Preemraff Göteborg is an oil refinery in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Preem is the largest supplier of petroleum products in Sweden and its two refineries, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg and Preemraff Lysekil in Lysekil represent 80% of Sweden's refining capacity. The Gothenburg refinery is certified according to ISO 14001. The facility produces liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, diesel and heating oil for both the Swedish and foreign markets.Construction started in 1965 and refining started in 1967. Originally owned by BP, it was sold to OK Petroleum when BP decided to leave the Swedish market in 1991. In 1994, Sheik Mohammed Al Amoudi from Saudi Arabia bought OK Petroleum, and in 1996 changed the name to Preem Raffinaderi.The port for crude oil tankers (allowing 19 metres (62 ft) draft) is around 6 km (3.7 mi) west, from where there is a pipeline connection. Refined products are shipped from a port near the Preemraff, or by road or rail connection.

Säve Airport (Säve flygplats), known as Göteborg City Airport (IATA: GSE, ICAO: ESGP) until 2015, is an airport located 5 NM (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) north-west from the centre of Gothenburg, near Säve, on the island of Hisingen, Bohuslän, Sweden. It is located within the borders of Gothenburg Municipality, hence its former name. It was Gothenburg's second international airport, with international scheduled flights from 2001 to 2015. In addition to commercial airlines, the airport was also used by a number of rescue services, including the Swedish Coast Guard. Owing to damage to the airport's runway by heavy aircraft and the high cost of repairs, the airport was closed to airline traffic indefinitely on 18 January 2015, but remains open to light aircraft.

Hisingen (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhîːsɪŋɛn]) is the fifth-largest island of Sweden (after Gotland, Öland, Södertörn and Orust), with an area of 199 km2 (77 sq mi). It is a river island, formed by the split of the Göta Älv at Bohus, and is defined to the east and south by the main arm of that river, to the north by the smaller arm (known as the Nordre Älv), and to the west by the Kattegat. The southern part of Hisingen is extensively urbanised, representing the northern suburbs of the city of Gothenburg. The island is divided between the historical provinces of Västergötland and Bohuslän, but lies entirely within the modern county of Västra Götaland The population of the island is around 130,000, making it the most populous island in Sweden, ahead of Södermalm and Gotland. For a brief, post-war period Hisingen was home to the largest shipbuilding centre in the world, but all three yards closed in 1979. Hisingen is home to both the Volvo Group and the now separate Volvo Cars. Most of the Nordic countries' largest port, the Port of Gothenburg is also located on Hisingen.

The Volvo Museum is in Gothenburg, Sweden. It covers the development of Sweden's leading vehicle manufacturer Volvo, from the first ÖV 4 to the current cars, trucks, buses and other products. The museum also has displays of Volvo Aero and Volvo Penta products, and many other exhibits, including the joint desk of Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson from the pioneering years of the company.

Göta Wing (Swedish: Göta flygflottilj), also F 9 Säve, or simply F 9, was a Swedish Air Force wing with the main base located near Gothenburg in south-west Sweden.

Elin Krantz was a Swedish 27-year-old woman who was murdered in the Biskopsgården district of Gothenburg on 26 September 2010. Krantz was murdered by Ephrem Yohannes, a 23-year-old African, in Biskopsgården where her body was found. Yohannes was found guilty of Krantz's murder and received a 16-year prison sentence and deportation on release.
