Someren-Eind

Someren (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsoːmərə(n)] ) is a municipality and town in the province of North Brabant in the Southern Netherlands. As of January 2019, the municipality had 19,322 inhabitants, with over half of the population residing in the town. Someren, just south of Helmond and to the north of Weert, Limburg, is located on the provincial border with Limburg. The spoken dialect is Peellands (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch). In Brabantian, Someren is known as Zummere.

Heusden also known as Asten-Heusden (or Heuze among locals) is a small village in North Brabant in the Netherlands. It is in the so-called Peel region. It was first mentioned in 1794 as Heusden. The etymology is unclear.Heusden has a small village square with a few bars, a church, a grocery store, and a youth center. The village is only a couple kilometres from Asten which is much larger and the centre of activity for most residents of Heusden. Heusden also has the romantic remains of an old castle that dates from the fifteenth century. Attached to the ruins, a seventeenth-century v-shape farmstead is still in place.

De Hoef is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Someren, about 1 km west of the town of Someren.De Hoef is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Someren. It has no place name signs, and consists of 35 houses.

Heikant is a hamlet in the municipality of Someren, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located about 3 km southwest of the centre of Someren.

De Groote Peel National Park is a national park in the De Peel, a region in the southeast of the Netherlands on the border between the provinces of Limburg and North Brabant. It has a size of 13.4 km² and preserves a peat bog that has remained partly untouched by peat cutting, which used to be extensive in the area. It is one of the most bird-rich areas in Western Europe, with resident black-necked grebes and sometimes migrating common cranes in October/November. The terrain is varied with inaccessible peat swamps, lakes, heath land and sand ridges. The present swamp and some of the lakes were created by the cutting of peat. There is a 3 km-long route guided by red poles with a tower that provides visitors with a view of the wasteland. Care must be taken if leaving the assigned route. The swamps can be treacherous.

Lierop is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Someren, about 7 km south of Helmond.

Ospeldijk is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Nederweert, and lies about 11 km northeast of Weert. The village was first mentioned in 1978 as Meijelse Dijk, and means "dike near Ospel".The Holy Spirit Church was a modern aisleless church built between 1957 and 1958. The church was demolished in 2008 and replaced by houses.Ospeldijk is an access point to De Groote Peel National Park.

Baarschot (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbaːr.sxɔt]; Brabantian: Baorschot) is a hamlet in the municipality of Deurne in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. Baarschot, a name that means "a high piece of land protruding into a swampy area", is a medieval hamlet on several higher Geests along the valley of the Astense Aa in the former municipality of Vlierden, the village area of which it is still a part administratively.

15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈnɪkɔːl vɑn dən ˈɦʏr(ə)k]) disappeared on her way to work on 6 October 1995, in Eindhoven, (the Dutch province of North Brabant). Her body was later found in the woods between the towns of Mierlo and Lierop on November 22, 1995.In 2011, van den Hurk's stepbrother confessed to the killing, but due to a lack of evidence, was released a month later. He would go on to state he had falsely confessed to get her body exhumed for DNA tests.DNA collected from Nicole's remains and from the crime scene led to the arrest of a man in January 2014, who is referred to only as Jos de G. (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈjɔz də ˈɣeː]) in media reports due to a commonly accepted privacy code from the Dutch media. Jos de G. was already convicted in other cases with the same modus operandi. The serial rapist was originally charged with rape and manslaughter, and was found guilty of rape in November 2016 and sentenced to five years' imprisonment. He was initially acquitted of the manslaughter charge, but after the prosecution appealed the acquittal, De G. was convicted of both rape and manslaughter and his sentence was increased to twelve years.
