The 1935 Women's Western Open was a golf competition held at Sunset Ridge Country Club, the 6th edition of the event. Opal Hill won the championship in match play competition by defeating Mrs. S.L. Reinhart in the final match, 9 and 7.

Saint Louise de Marillac High School was an all-girls Catholic secondary school in Northfield, Illinois, United States from 1967 to 1994, run by the Daughters of Charity. In 1994, Marillac merged with Loyola Academy.The former campus of Marillac High School, designed by Schmidt, Garden & Erikson, received an award from the American Institute of Architects.Coming Home is an initiative to gather alumnae, faculty, and the Daughters of Charity to celebrate the spirit of Marillac High School.

The Ed Rudolph Velodrome is a velodrome in Northbrook, Illinois used to host track cycling events and soccer games. It was the more centrally located of two Chicago metropolitan area velodromes (the other residing in Kenosha, Wisconsin), until the Chicago Velo Campus was constructed in 2011. It is owned by the Northbrook Park District.The 382 m (1,253 ft) velodrome was constructed in 1960 with a perimeter for track cycling and a grassy infield for soccer games. Every winter, the velodrome was flooded to create a speed skating rink. Over the years, the track served as a practice rink for members of multiple U.S. Winter Olympics teams. In the 1990s, the District ceased the annual conversion of the velodrome into an ice rink due to the facility's inability to retain water, which seeped through the soccer field. Ed Harvey, the District director, attributed this to a lowering of the water table caused by construction in the late 1980s.The track's asphalt was completely resurfaced in 1989, and again in 2004.

North Glenview is one of two commuter railroad stations on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line in Glenview, Illinois. The station is located at 3000 Old Willow Road, is 18.5 miles (29.8 km) away from Union Station, the southern terminus of the line, and serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. As of 2018, North Glenview is the 34th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,163 weekday boardings.As of 2022, North Glenview is served by 14 inbound trains and all 19 outbound trains on weekdays, by all 10 trains in both directions on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in both directions on Sundays. It is proposed that the Amtrak trains, the Hiawatha Service and Empire Builder, which currently serve Glenview, one stop south, would shift here. This move would eliminate lengthy stops which block traffic on Glenview Road. This move would involve reconstruction of the North Glenview station to handle the additional traffic, and depends on commitments from Glenview, the Illinois General Assembly and Metra.

Techny is a neighborhood of Northbrook, Illinois, United States. Once a separate community, it was annexed by Northbrook in 1989. The North American headquarters of the Divine Word Missionaries has been located in Techny since 1896. The area's name derived from St. Joseph's Technical School, which the religious congregation established in 1901 and operated for twelve years. St. Mary's Mission Seminary, the first of its kind which prepared priests and Brothers for foreign missions, was opened by the Divine Word Missionaries in 1909. Techny has its own post office with ZIP code 60082.

In Metra's zone-based fare system, Northbrook is in zone E. As of 2018, Northbrook is the 28th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,259 weekday boardings. Metra trains pass through about every hour in each direction outside of rush hours, and up to every 20 minutes during rush hour. Bike racks are available at the station, on either side of the tracks. in 2016, an electrified sign was installed, warning commuters and pedestrians to look for trains. The tracks that run through Northbrook are also utilized by Amtrak's Hiawatha and Empire Builder, as well as freight trains. As of 2022, Northbrook is served by 16 inbound trains and all 19 outbound trains on weekdays, by all 10 trains in both directions on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in both directions on Sundays. Northbrook station was originally built by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. Parking is available both on Shermer Road and Lorenz Drive.

The Skokie River (or East Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River) is a 20-mile-long (32 km) river that flows through the northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. It flows almost parallel to the shore of Lake Michigan, and historically discharged its outflow into that lake via the Chicago River. However, the construction of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in 1900 caused the drainage of the Chicago River, including its Skokie River tributary, to flow southwestward towards the Mississippi River. The Skokie River rises from a flat area, historically a wetland, on the west side of the city of Waukegan. Flowing southward through the North Shore suburbs of Lake County, the river enters Cook County and discharges its flow into the North Branch of the Chicago River at Wilmette Golf Club between Morton Grove and Wilmette. More than 1,100 houses occupy parcels of property located in New Trier Township within the Skokie River floodplain.

Naval Air Station Glenview or NAS Glenview was an operational U.S. Naval Air Station from 1923 to 1995. Located in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the air base primarily operated training aircraft as well as seaplanes on nearby Lake Michigan during World War II. Reconfigured as a Naval Air Reserve base following World War II, NAS Glenview supported Naval Air Reserve, Marine Air Reserve/4th Marine Aircraft Wing, and U.S. Army Reserve 244th Aviation Group as well as an active duty Coast Guard Air Station.

The Chicago Botanic Garden is a 385-acre (156 ha) living plant museum situated on nine islands in the Cook County Forest Preserves. It features 27 display gardens in four natural habitats: McDonald Woods, Dixon Prairie, Skokie River Corridor, and Lakes and Shores. The garden is open every day of the year. An admission fee has been approved to start in 2022, not to exceed $35.The Chicago Botanic Garden is owned by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, and managed by the Chicago Horticultural Society. It opened to the public in 1972, and is home to the Joseph Regenstein Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden, offering a number of classes and certificate programs. The Chicago Botanic Garden is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a member of the American Public Gardens Association (APGA).

Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago is a children's museum in Glenview, Illinois that provides a hands-on learning laboratory for children ages birth to 8. It is named for philanthropist Dolores Kohl, daughter of the founder of Kohl’s department stores, who founded the museum through her education foundation in 1985. Located on an 8.8-acre (36,000 m2) site, including a 46,700-square-foot (4,340 m2) museum building and a 2-acre (0.81 ha) outdoor exhibit space, the museum features exhibits and programs aligned to the Illinois State Learning Standards and designed to make learning fun and interesting for young children.
