Oakwood Historic District (Hickory, North Carolina)

Claremont High School Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 172 contributing buildings and 3 contributing structures in a predominantly residential section of Hickory. Most of the dwellings date from the late 19th through mid-20th century and include notable examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. The Claremont High School was completed in 1925, and is a three-story, H-shaped, Neoclassical style school. The school was rehabilitated in 1986 as an arts and science center. Other notable buildings include Maple Grove (c. 1875), Shuler-Harper House (1887), Harvey E. McComb House (1889), (former) Corinth Reformed Church Parsonage (1895), Shuford L. Whitener House (1897, c. 1910), Judge W. B. Councill House (1902), George W. Hall House (c. 1906), Carolina Park, Josephine Lyerly House (c. 1912), John L. Riddle House (1918), Marshall R. Wagner House (1938), David M. McComb Jr. House (1939), Arthur H. Burgess House (1940), and R. L. Noblin House (1950).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, with a boundary increase in 2009.

Elliott–Carnegie Library is a historic Carnegie library building located in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1922, and is a small, one-story brick veneer structure in the Georgian Revival / Colonial Revival style. It was the last public library in North Carolina to receive a grant from the Carnegie Foundation that funded 2,507 such facilities worldwide. In the 1950s, it was converted for use as radio station WHKY by the Catawba Valley Broadcasting Company. It later housed an advertising and public relations firm.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Clement Geitner House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1882, and is a two-story, double pile brick dwelling on a stone foundation. It has a central hall plan and one-story full-width front porch. It has a large, 1+1⁄2-story brick veneer rear addition dated to the mid-20th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue NW in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1905–1906, and is a Romanesque Revival-style church sheathed in granite. The front facade features square towers of unequal height. Attached to the church in 1928, is a three-story granite block Education Building with a flat roof and crenelated cornice. Also on the property is the former manse; a two-story, American Foursquare dwelling with a low hipped roof, overhanging eaves, and hipped dormer.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Hickory Municipal Building is a historic municipal building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1920–1921, and is a two-story brick building in the Classical Revival style. It has a three-story auditorium. The front facade features a one-story limestone portico, protecting the center entrance. In 1977, the city administrative offices were relocated to the new city hall. It houses the Hickory Community Theatre.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Harris Arcade, also known as the Arcade Building, is a historic commercial building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1938, and is a two-story, brick Commercial Style building, with Tudor Revival-Style arched arcade openings. It features an eight-foot wide arcade passage with a broken-tile terrazzo floor and intact late-interwar period commercial space.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

John A. Lentz House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1890, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame dwelling with Classical Revival style design elements. It features a full-length, two-level front porch with Tuscan Doric order columns. It has a two-story rear ell and one-story wing. It was the home of John A. Lentz (1860-1925), who served as Hickory's mayor in 1911–1912.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Dr. Glenn R. Frye House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1937, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style stone dwelling. It has a 1+1⁄2-story frame wing. Also on the property are the contributing garage (1937); wrought-iron balustrade, fence, and gates (1937); and stone wall (1937).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Hickory Southwest Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 8 contributing buildings in the central business district of Hickory. Notable buildings include the Hickory Passenger Depot (1912), Classical Revival style U.S. Post Office (1914, 1961) designed by Office of the Supervising Architect under Oscar Wenderoth, Harper Motor Company (1928), Hickory Bonded Warehouse (c. 1885), Hickory Overall Office (c. 1922), Hickory Roller Covering Office (c. 1922), and the Armory (1911-1912).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Piedmont Wagon Company was a horse-drawn wagon works company in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Founded by George G. Bonniwell and A. L. (Andy) Ramseur in 1878, it became "one of the most conspicuous examples of New South prosperity in North Carolina" during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of the company's remaining buildings, constructed in 1889, is a 2+1⁄2-story L-shaped brick structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. In 2015, the building was restored and repurposed as office space.

Lee & Helen George House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1951, and is a one-story, Redwood weatherboard sheathed Modernist / Usonian-style dwelling. The house consists of a center main block with projecting rooms on each end of the façade, a rear wing, and an attached carport.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) is an art museum in Hickory, North Carolina which holds exhibitions, events, and public educational programs based on a permanent collection of 19th to 21st century American art. The museum also features a long-term exhibition of Southern contemporary folk art, showcasing the work of self-taught artists from around the region. North Carolina's second-oldest museum, Hickory Museum of Art was established in 1944.
