John A. Lentz House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1890, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame dwelling with Classical Revival style design elements. It features a full-length, two-level front porch with Tuscan Doric order columns. It has a two-story rear ell and one-story wing. It was the home of John A. Lentz (1860-1925), who served as Hickory's mayor in 1911–1912.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Elliott–Carnegie Library is a historic Carnegie library building located in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1922, and is a small, one-story brick veneer structure in the Georgian Revival / Colonial Revival style. It was the last public library in North Carolina to receive a grant from the Carnegie Foundation that funded 2,507 such facilities worldwide. In the 1950s, it was converted for use as radio station WHKY by the Catawba Valley Broadcasting Company. It later housed an advertising and public relations firm.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Claremont High School was completed in 1925, and is a three-story, H-shaped, Neoclassical style school. The school was rehabilitated in 1986 as an arts and science center. Other notable buildings include Maple Grove (c. 1875), Shuler-Harper House (1887), Harvey E. McComb House (1889), (former) Corinth Reformed Church Parsonage (1895), Shuford L. Hickory Municipal Building is a historic municipal building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1920–1921, and is a two-story brick building in the Classical Revival style. It has a three-story auditorium. The front facade features a one-story limestone portico, protecting the center entrance. In 1977, the city administrative offices were relocated to the new city hall. It houses the Hickory Community Theatre.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Harris Arcade, also known as the Arcade Building, is a historic commercial building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1938, and is a two-story, brick Commercial Style building, with Tudor Revival-Style arched arcade openings. It features an eight-foot wide arcade passage with a broken-tile terrazzo floor and intact late-interwar period commercial space.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue NW in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1905–1906, and is a Romanesque Revival-style church sheathed in granite. The front facade features square towers of unequal height. Attached to the church in 1928, is a three-story granite block Education Building with a flat roof and crenelated cornice. Also on the property is the former manse; a two-story, American Foursquare dwelling with a low hipped roof, overhanging eaves, and hipped dormer.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

It was built in 1951, and is a one-story, brick veneer building with Colonial Revival-style design elements. It was moved to its present location in 1998, when it was replaced with the new Ridgeview Branch Library. The library was constructed to serve the African-American neighborhood of Ridgeview.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Dr. Glenn R. Frye House is a historic home located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1937, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style stone dwelling. It has a 1+1⁄2-story frame wing. Also on the property are the contributing garage (1937); wrought-iron balustrade, fence, and gates (1937); and stone wall (1937).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Houck's Chapel is a historic Methodist church located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1888, and is a small, rectangular frame church building. It is two bays wide and four deep and rests on a stone pier foundation. Atop the roof is a pyramidal roofed belfry. Also on the property is the contributing church cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.Houck's Chapel has been restored by the Hickory Landmarks Society and is open for tours by appointment.
