Smart's and Prey Heaths is a 39-hectare (96-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of Woking in Surrey.These mainly damp heaths are dominated by ling, cross-leaved heath and purple moor-grass. Other plants include creeping willow, dwarf gorse, oblong-leaved sundew, deergrass and round-leaved sundew.The heaths are crossed by footpaths.

Mayford is a village in Woking borough of the county of Surrey, England. It is roughly 21⁄2 miles south of Woking on Egley Road, part of the A320 between Woking and Guildford, Surrey. The village is mainly centred on the roundabout in the middle of the village. Mayford was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, as "Maiford". The same spelling was recorded in 1212.

Whitmoor Common is a 166-hectare (410-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the northern outskirts of Guildford in Surrey. It is part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area and the 184.9-hectare (457-acre) Whitmoor and Rickford Commons Local Nature Reserve, which is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.This site on the heath of the London Basin has a variety of heathland habitats, as well as areas of woodland, meadow and still and running water. The heath has a nationally scarce spider, Oxyopes heterophthalmus and beetle Hyperaspis pseudopustulata and there are nationally important populations of several bird species.The site is open to the public.

It was formerly used for grazing, but it is now mainly mixed woodland with some heath and grassland.There is public access to the site.

The village forms a northern outskirt of Guildford, in the civil parish of Worplesdon which can be considered the mother village of medieval date to the west. The Stoke Hill part of Stringers Common, Slyfield Industrial Estate and a Surrey County Council general waste transfer station to the south form the narrowest of its buffer zones to all sides, separating the Slyfield part of Guildford from the village. Between Jacobs Well and Burpham to the south-east and east lie the River Wey, Burpham Court Farm Park, the River Wey Navigation, and the A3, in that order. Other nearby settlements include Sutton Green (beyond which is Old Woking) to the NNE.
