The Big E, formally known as The Eastern States Exposition, is an annual fair in West Springfield, Massachusetts, which opens on the second Friday after Labor Day and runs for seventeen days. It is billed as "New England's Great State fair," the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard and the fifth-largest fair in the nation. The Big E is inclusive of all six New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Eastern States Coliseum, better known as the Big E Coliseum, is a 5,900-seat multi-purpose arena in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

Merrick is a neighborhood in the southeast corner of West Springfield, Massachusetts. Borders are, Park Ave to the north, Union St. and its industrial buildings to the west, and Bridge St. (or New Bridge St.) to the south and U.S. Route 5. Downtown is to the north and northwest and the neighborhood Memorial, is to the south and southwest. The Connecticut River is to the east. The population as of 2010 was 2,986.

Immaculate Conception Parish - designated for Polish immigrants in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Founded 1905. It is one of the Polish-American Roman Catholic parishes in New England in the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts.Citing insufficient parishioners the diocese had planned to close the parish in 2009. Following closure it would have merged with Christ the King Parish in Ludlow. However, the local community opposed the move and became the only parish in Springfield proper to receive a temporary reprieve while efforts were made to reverse the decision.. Re-opened in 2018.

It airs an rhythmic contemporary music format. WACM's programming is also simulcasted on W261DD, a translator station broadcasting on 100.1 FM.

The Josiah Day House is a historic house museum at 70 Park Street in West Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Built about 1754, it is believed to be the oldest known brick saltbox style house in the United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It is owned by the local historical society, and is occasionally open for guided tours.

West Springfield is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 28,835 at the 2020 United States Census. The city is also known as "West Side", in reference to the fact that it is on the western side of the Connecticut River from Springfield, a fact which played a major part in the town's early history.

WMAS-FM (94.7 MHz), branded 94.7 WMAS, is a commercial radio station licensed to Enfield, Connecticut, and serving the Springfield metropolitan area and Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. It broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format and is owned by Audacy, Inc. In the evening, it carries Intelligence for Your Life with John Tesh. On Sunday mornings, it airs The Jim Brickman Show. The studios are at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. WMAS-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 50,000 watts, the maximum for most stations in Massachusetts. It uses a directional antenna and broadcasts from a shorter tower than most Springfield FM outlets to avoid interference with co-owned WXBK, also on 94.7 FM, in the New York City radio market. WMAS-FM's transmitter is in Springfield's Brightwood neighborhood, off Plainfield Avenue (U.S. Route 20) and near the Connecticut River.

WHLL (1450 AM) – branded as Nueva 98.1 – is a commercial radio station broadcasting a Spanish-language latin pop format licensed to Springfield, Massachusetts. Owned by Audacy, Inc., the station serves the Springfield metropolitan area; and the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. The WHLL studios are located at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, alongside sister stations WMAS-FM and WWEI, while the station transmitter, shared with WMAS-FM, resides in Springfield's Brightwood neighborhood. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WHLL simulcasts over low-power analog Springfield translator W251CT (98.1 FM) and on the second HD Radio channel of WMAS-FM, and streams online via Audacy.

WACE (730 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a Catholic radio format. Licensed to Chicopee, Massachusetts, the station serves the Springfield radio market and has been permitted to identify itself as "Chicopee-Springfield" since 1969. The station is owned by Holy Family Communications, and operates as part of its The Station of the Cross network. EWTN Radio programming is also heard. By day, WACE transmits 5,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. 730 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Canada and Mexico. To avoid interference with other stations, WACE must reduce power at night to 7 watts. The transmitter is off West Street in Springfield, near the North End Bridge and the Connecticut River.

The Springfield metropolitan area, also known as Greater Springfield, is a region that is socio-economically and culturally tied to the City of Springfield, Massachusetts. The U.S. Office of Management and Budget defines the Springfield, MA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as consisting of three counties in Western Massachusetts. As of April 1, 2020, the metropolitan area's population was estimated at 699,162, making it the 88th-largest metropolitan area in the United States.Historically, the census has also identified the region as "Springfield–Holyoke, Mass.–Conn." as those cities were the area's population centers as recently as 1980; since that time the population has become further distributed, including new growth in Amherst, Westfield, and West Springfield, and Northern Connecticut. Greater Springfield is one of two combined statistical areas in Massachusetts; the other is Greater Boston. An alternative system of measuring New England metropolitan areas was developed, called the New England city and town area (NECTA) because, in New England, towns are a much more important level of government than counties. County government in New England is weak at best, and in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and most of Massachusetts, does not exist at all. In addition, major cities and surrounding towns are often much smaller in land area than in other parts of the United States. For example, Springfield is 33.2 sq. miles, whereas Fort Worth, Texas, is 298.9 sq. miles, nearly 10 times larger in land area than Springfield. Because of the sizable discrepancy in land area, New England cities like Springfield feature much higher population densities. In addition, New England cities and towns have developed allegiances that transcend state borders; cities in Connecticut are included in Springfield's NECTA. This system is thought to better approximate New England's metropolitan areas because it uses New England's geographically smaller building blocks. In Springfield's case, its NECTA consists of 51 additional cities and towns surrounding the city.

Pynchon Park, also known as Hampden Park and League Park, was a sports venue in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was opened in 1853 by the Hampden Agricultural Society and was destroyed by fire in 1966.The venue hosted various events, including horse racing, bicycle racing, and college football (including several editions of the Harvard–Yale football rivalry). It also served as home grounds for the minor league baseball team primarily known as the Springfield Ponies.
