The Bjørvika Tunnel (Norwegian: Bjørvikatunnelen) is a motorway immersed tunnel on European Route E18 in the city center of Oslo, Norway. The tunnel has two bores, with three lanes in each. In the west, it connects to the Festning Tunnel at Akershus Fortress and runs under the Bjørvika arm of the Oslofjord before ending in an intersection on the east shore, where it splits into Mosseveien (E18) and the Ekeberg Tunnel (National Road 190). The tunnel is 1,100 metres (3,600 ft) long, 675 meters of which run below sea level, and opened in September 2010. It was built by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration The Bjørvika Tunnel is part of the Opera Tunnel complex which is the name of the interconnected system of tunnels between Ryen and Filipstad. The Bjørvika Tunnel is the first immersed tunnel in Norway. The tunnel's cost was estimated to be around 4.6 billion kr, and was financed through Oslo Package 1, with part of the funding coming from the city's toll ring. The project includes an additional 8.0 kilometres (5.0 mi) of roads, 5.7 kilometres (3.5 mi) of pedestrian and cycle paths and 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) of bus lanes. The project will create a 6.0 kilometres (3.7 mi) continuous tunnel from Framnes (at the Kiel ferry terminal) to Ryen. The connection with the Festning Tunnel will require a 100 metres (330 ft) sinking of the latter, and it will have a basement built under it.

Sørengautstikkeren is a neighborhood in the borough Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. It is an artificial peninsula that sticks out into the Oslofjord form Bjørvika and Sørenga. It is part of the Port of Oslo, but will be redeveloped as part of the Fjord City urban redevelopment program, after the Bjørvika Tunnel is completed in 2010, and the European Route E18 will run under the area. Until then, it is used as a container port, a quay for cruiseships and as a storage area for earth and bulk. The quay is 880 metres (2,890 ft) long.The redevelopment is organized by Sørenga Utvikling and HAV Eiendom, a subsidiary of the Port of Oslo. The area was sold from the port to Sørenga Utvikling for 940 million kr. Sørenga Utvikling is owned by Backe Prosjekt, USBL, Oslo Areal and financial investors. Four architect companies, LPO arkitekter, Jarmund/Vigsnæs, Arkitektselskapet Kari Nissen Brodtkorb and MAD, will each receive two blocks to design. Forty-seven companies had offered bids in the contest. The four companies will cooperate to create a common identify for the buildings. Construction will start in 2009, and will be completed by 2011 or 2012. The area is planned to feature 950 new apartments, plus some commercial areas, including some stores. The Sørenga area will have 100,000 square metres (1,100,000 sq ft) of buildings. The apartments will be among the most expensive in the country, as they are located within walking distance of the city core.
