Krupski Młyn

Gmina Krupski Młyn is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Tarnowskie Góry County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Krupski Młyn, which lies approximately 23 kilometres (14 mi) north-west of Tarnowskie Góry and 45 km (28 mi) north-west of the regional capital Katowice. It also contains the villages of Potępa and Ziętek. The district covers an area of 39.42 square kilometres (15.2 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 3,175. The area is environmentally very impressive, mostly forested (83% of the area), with many oak trees up to 500 years old, dotted with pleasant streams and small lakes.

Potępa [pɔˈtɛmpa] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Krupski Młyn, within Tarnowskie Góry County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) east of Krupski Młyn, 20 km (12 mi) north-west of Tarnowskie Góry, and 43 km (27 mi) north-west of the regional capital Katowice. On the night of 9 August 1932, five uniformed Nazi Stormtroopers (Sturmabteilung) burst into the apartment of miner, trade unionist, member of the Communist Party of Germany, Konrad Pietrzuch, and beat him to death in the presence of his mother and younger brother. The five murderers did nothing to disguise themselves during the attack and they were quickly arrested. After a well-publicized trial in Beuthen (now Bytom, Poland), they were found guilty of murder and sentenced to death. Later, the sentence was changed to life imprisonment. In March 1933, after Hitler assumed office, the murderers were released.
