Division of Kooyong
The Division of Kooyong is an Australian Electoral Division for the Australian House of Representatives in the state of Victoria, which covers an area of approximately 59 km2 (23 sq mi) in the inner-east suburbs of Melbourne. It is currently based on Kew, and also includes Balwyn, Canterbury, Deepdene, Hawthorn, Mont Albert and Mont Albert North; and parts of Camberwell, Glen Iris, Hawthorn East and Surrey Hills. Kooyong is a largely white-collar electorate. According to the 2016 census, 46.8% of electors hold a Bachelor's Degree, more than twice the national average. After the 2022 election, teal independent Monique Ryan became the member for the electorate, unseating former Liberal deputy leader and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. She is both the first woman and the first non-Liberal Party candidate to win the seat since the party's inception in 1944, as well as the first member to unseat an incumbent in Kooyong since 1922.
