RAF Stradishall

HM Prison Highpoint South (formerly called Highpoint prison) is a Category C men's prison, located in the village of Stradishall (near Haverhill) in Suffolk, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service.

Clare Rural District was a rural district in the county of West Suffolk, England. It was created in 1894, comprising those parishes in the Risbridge rural sanitary district which were in Suffolk. On 1 April 1935 it was enlarged by the addition of the parishes of Lidgate and Ousden from the disbanded Moulton Rural District, Cavendish and Hawkedon from the Melford Rural District and Depden from the Thingoe Rural District. It was named after and administered from Clare. Since 1 April 1974 it has formed part of the Borough of St Edmundsbury.

Stradishall is a village and civil parish in West Suffolk in the English county of Suffolk. The civil parish includes a number of hamlets including Farley Green. The Royal Air Force operated an airfield near Stradishall, RAF Stradishall, which was operational between 1938 and 1970. The former airfield is now the site of two category C prisons: HMP Highpoint North and HMP Highpoint South. Part of the former airfield remains a MOD training site which is closed to the public. There is a memorial to RAF Stradishall outside Stirling House which was once part of the officers quarters and now is a training unit for the Prison service. The village has an Anglican church dedicated to St Margaret.

Trundley and Wadgell's Wood, Great Thurlow is a 79.4 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Great Thurlow in Suffolk.These semi-natural woods on boulder clay soils are mostly ancient coppice with standards, with pedunculate oak as the main standard trees. They have ground flora typical of ancient woodland such as early purple orchid, yellow archangel and sanicle. There are wide grassy rides which are dominated by Yorkshire fog.The woods are private land with no public access.

The school opened in September 2012, and educates pupils from Bedford, Kempston and the wider Borough of Bedford. Lidgate is a small village and a civil parish in the West Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. Lidgate is located on the B1063 road in between the towns of Newmarket and Clare. The population of Lidgate is around 250, measured at 241 in the 2011 Census.St Mary's church dates from the 13th century and is a Grade II* listed building. The village was the origin of John Lydgate (c. 1370 – c. 1451), monk and poet; he left his signature and a coded message in graffiti on a wall of the church.The adjacent Lidgate Castle is a medieval motte and bailey castle built to an unusual quadrangular design. It probably dates to The Anarchy during the reign of King Stephen.

Kedington is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England, located between the towns of Clare and Haverhill in the south-west of Suffolk. Known as Doomtown in the Domesday Book (1086), there were 280 people living there at that time. Part of it was formerly in Essex. Kedington's church, St Peter and St Paul, is one of the historical treasures of East Anglia, dating from the late 13th century. However, the church is built on top of a Roman villa, the remains of which can be viewed under small trap doors located in the pews towards the back of the nave. There is an Anglo-Saxon stone cross located above the altar on the east wall of the church. This was found near to the church and is believed to be from a church dating from Saxon times. Kedington comes in the top rank of small English churches and is renowned for its unmodernised interior and Barnardiston tombs. John Betjeman understandably christened Kedington ' a village Westminster Abbey'. The 17th century Archbishop of Canterbury John Tillotson was rector of Kedington prior to his elevation.
