St Aubyn's School

The A104 is an A road which runs from Islington Green in London to Epping in Essex, England.At its southern end, the A104 meets the A1 near Angel London Underground station in Islington. The route passes through Canonbury, Dalston, Hackney, Clapton, Leyton, Woodford and Buckhurst Hill before meeting the A121 at the Wake Arms roundabout. The northern terminus of the route is approximately 2.7 miles (4.3 km) south of St John's Church in Epping town centre, and approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) east of the M25 motorway at junction 26.

Woodford Green is an area of Woodford in East London, England, within the London Borough of Redbridge. It adjoins Buckhurst Hill to the north, Woodford Bridge to the east, South Woodford to the south, and Chingford to the west. Epping Forest runs through Woodford Green in the west of the area, 9.4 miles (15.1 km) north-east of Charing Cross. It was a hamlet in the ancient parish of Woodford, in the historic county of Essex, becoming an urban district in 1894. For administrative purposes, this merged with the Wanstead Urban District to form the Wanstead and Woodford Urban District in 1934. In 1965, the urban district became part of the London Borough of Redbridge.

Woodford County High School For Girls, formerly Woodford County High School (WCHS) is a secondary all-girls selective grammar school in Woodford Green of the London Borough of Redbridge, England. The school was opened in 1919. Woodford County's brother school for boys is Ilford County High School. Woodford County High School has seven Years (7–13) . To gain a place in the lower school, children take the 11-plus exam via the local authority, the London Borough of Redbridge. Redbridge offer the top 180 girls from the 11-plus exam results a place at Woodford County High School where, upon entry, girls are allocated to one of 6 individual 'forms' of 30 students each. Every student for Years 7-13 is part of a different school 'house'. These houses are Repton (blue), Warner (yellow), Highams (green) and Newton (red). There are many roles that students are encouraged to volunteer for within the day-to-day running of the school, including representation of peers on the 'school council' and becoming 'Silver Badges' (Y12/13 6th Formers with additional responsibilities). 6th Form (Y12/13) places at the school are highly sought after, and applications to attend 6th Form are open to those who have attended schools other than Woodford County High School in Years 7 to 11. This school offers a wide range of GCSE subjects, including Classical Civilisation, psychology, and business studies, among many others.Although the school is part of the Borough of Redbridge school system, the school buildings themselves are located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Woodford Hall was a large house in Woodford, Essex, with 50 acres of land adjacent to Epping Forest. In 1707, Sir Richard Child sold the Hall to Christopher Crowe, who sold it to William Hunt in 1728, having obtained a private Act of Parliament. It remained in the Hunt family until 1801, when it was sold to the politician John Maitland.It was built or rebuilt in 1775 by the architect Thomas Leverton. In 1777, it was leased to John Goddard, a Rotterdam merchant, whose widow died there in 1814, after which Maitland moved in, dying there in 1831.William Whitaker Maitland, his son, inherited the property, and leased it to William Cox, and in 1840, to William Morris, father of William Morris the textile designer, poet, and socialist activist, then aged 6. In 1847, his father died unexpectedly, and in 1848, the family moved nearby to the smaller Water House.In 1869 the Woodford Hall estate was sold to British Land for redevelopment, but was used as Mrs. Gladstone's convalescent home until 1900, when it was demolished.In 1902, the Parish Church Memorial Hall was built at the front of the site.

St Mary's Church, Woodford is the ancient parish church for Woodford in east London, on the High Road in what is now South Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is known to have existed by the 12th century. Its rector in the 1520s was John Larke. Its medieval west tower and spire were in dangerously poor repair by 1705 and in 1708 it was replaced with a brick tower The medieval church was substantially rebuilt in brick in the Gothic style in 1816. Population expansion led to the construction of the new churches of St Paul's in 1854 and All Saints in 1874, both within the parish. Prior to a 1969 arson attack, the interior of St Mary's contained several wall monuments and tombs, including the tomb of Bridget, widow of Alexander Staples and eldest daughter of Sir John Ernle, Chancellor of the Exchequer to Charles II and James II. The current interior is modern. The church is fitted with a 3-manual Grant, Degens and Bradbeer Organ which was built at a similar time to the organ of New College Oxford. The church was completely rebuilt in 1971-72.The churchyard hosts one of the Great Trees of London, a Copper Beech.

The Highams Estate is a housing estate in Waltham Forest in East London, near to Hale End (Highams Park) and Woodford Green. The area was developed by Thomas Courtenay Warner, within the grounds of the former Highams Manor House in the 1930s.

Woodford was a local government district in the county of Essex, England from 1873 to 1934, corresponding to the London suburb of Woodford.The parish of Woodford St Mary adopted the Local Government Act 1858 in 1873, setting up a local board of nine members. The Local Government Act 1894 reconstituted its area as an urban district, governed by an urban district council. St Mary's church is a thriving Anglican parish today. It was amalgamated with Wanstead Urban District in 1934 to form Wanstead and Woodford Urban District and now forms the northwestern part of the London Borough of Redbridge in Greater London.

Woodford Green Preparatory School is a preparatory school in Woodford Green, London. It was founded in 1932 to provide a non-denominational Christian education for boys and girls. The first headmistress was Norah Kathleen Read. The current headmaster is Lisa McDonald.

Bancroft's School is a co-educational private day school located in Woodford Green, London Borough of Redbridge. The school currently has around 1,000 pupils aged between 7 and 18, around 200 of whom are pupils of the Preparatory School and 800 of whom are pupils of the Senior School. The school's alumni – or "Old Bancroftians" – include naturalists, poets, academics, politicians, authors, sportsmen, actors, and military figures. It adjoins Woodford Green to the north, Walthamstow to the west, Snaresbrook and Wanstead to the south and Redbridge to the east, and is 8.9 miles (14.3 km) north-east of Charing Cross. Epping Forest runs adjacent to South Woodford in the west of the area.

Woodford is a town in East London, within the London Borough of Redbridge. It is located 9.5 miles (15.3 km) north-east of Charing Cross. Woodford historically formed an ancient parish in the county of Essex. It contained a string of agrarian villages and was part of Epping Forest. From about 1700 onwards, it became a place of residence for affluent people who had business in London; this wealth, together with its elevated position, has led to it being called the Geographical and social high point of East London. Woodford was suburban to London and after being combined with Wanstead in 1934 it was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1937. It has formed part of Greater London since 1965 and comprises the neighbourhoods of Woodford Green, Woodford Bridge, Woodford Wells and South Woodford. The area is served by two stations on the Central line of the London Underground: Woodford and South Woodford.
