Chudleigh Knighton Heath

Chudleigh Knighton Halt was on the Teign Valley Line serving the small village of Chudleigh Knighton, Devon, England. The halt, built by the Great Western Railway at a later date than most of the other stations on the line, was located on the west side of Pipehouse Lane off the B3344, to the south of the village. The first station was constructed of timber with a small corrugated iron pagoda shelter and a simple nameboard, at a cost £300. After WW2 a concrete platform was provided. A level crossing was located at the platform end. The track was still in situ in 1969, but goods facilities were withdrawn on 4 December 1967. Passenger numbers reached their peak in the 1930s with seven daily services provided each way between Exeter and Heathfield. During World War 2 this was reduced to four trains in each direction, still with no trains on a Sunday. This was increased to five daily trains after the war.The A38 road now runs over the site of the halt and nothing remains of the station.

Teignbridge is a local government district in Devon, England. Its council is based in the town of Newton Abbot. The district also includes the towns of Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Dawlish, Kingsteignton and Teignmouth, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Teignbridge contains part of the south Devon coastline, including the Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve. Some of the inland western parts of the district lie within the Dartmoor National Park. It is named after the old Teignbridge hundred. The neighbouring districts are Torbay, South Hams, West Devon, Mid Devon, East Devon and Exeter.

Heathfield is an industrial estate in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England. It is located 2 miles south east of Bovey Tracey and is next to the A382 and A38 roads. In 2011 it had a population of 1832.

Stover Country Park is an area of woodland park 2 miles (3 km) north of Newton Abbot in the parish of Teigngrace, Devon, within the former grounds of Stover House. The reserve is 114 acres (46 ha) in size, and is managed by Devon County Council.

Ventiford Brook is a stream located in Devon, England. It was used as one of the water courses that filled the Stover Canal, when it was in use, along with the River Teign and River Bovey. There are plans to restore the canal, in which case the Ventiford Brook would probably need to be the main source of water for the canal.The brook was also used as the basis for filling Stover Lake, which is located in the Stover Country Park near Bovey Tracey.

Stokelake Residential School was in Chudleigh, South Devon. It was classed as the senior school of Pitt House School Ltd and the chairman was Mr. M. C.Spedding who was also Chairman of Torquay United Football Club in the early 1960s. The site was quite extensive, with a main block, dining with TV - cinema room, library, and dormitory block. It had a classroom complex, and large gymnasium as well as its own farm. Stokelake also had an excellent football team. The school held 120 pupils at any one time. Its parental school was Pitt House, at Torquay, which held a further 180 pupils at any one time and another school that was owned by Pitt House School Ltd was Rocklands in Newton Abbot. Stokelake ceased to be a school when it closed down in 1980 and Pitt House School closed down on 15 May 1984.

The battle of Bovey Heath took place on 9 January 1646 at Bovey Tracey and Bovey Heath (about 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Exeter in Devon, England) during the First English Civil War. A Parliamentarian cavalry detachment under the command of Oliver Cromwell surprised and routed the Lord Wentworth's Royalist camp. After a series of losses for the Royalists in the southwest of England, they had retreated to Exeter and beyond. The Parliamentarian New Model Army besieged Exeter, and when a Royalist army was raised to try to relieve the city, the Parliamentarian commander, Sir Thomas Fairfax launched a preemptive strike. He first sent Cromwell to attack the cavalry lodged at Bovey Heath, where they were able to rout the Royalists who were not prepared for an attack. Wentworth and most of his leading commanders were able to escape, but Wentworth was stripped of command of the Royalist army in the West, which passed to the Lord Hopton.

Bovey Heath is a 32 hectare (50 acre) area of heathland between Bovey Tracey and Heathfield in south Devon, England. Although primarily heathland habitat, the site has some wet mature oak woodland, and is home to rare species such as the Dartford warbler, European stonechat, European nightjar and the narrow headed ant. The reserve has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1989. It became a Devon Wildlife Trust nature reserve in 2002 and a Local Nature Reserve in 2003.

Ilford Park Polish Home is a residential and nursing care home in Stover, Devon, in England run by the Ministry of Defence. The site was one of 45 resettlement camps established by the National Assistance Board in the late 1940s to cater for Polish veterans entitled to remain in the UK under the Polish Resettlement Act 1947. Ilford Park is the last of the camps to remain in operation and can cater for around 100 residents. In 1992 residents were housed in a new home built on part of the site, the former camp remained derelict for a period but, as of 2022, some of the site has been redeveloped into a caravan site.

Chudleigh railway station was a railway station in Chudleigh, a small town in Devon, England located between the towns of Newton Abbot and Exeter. The station opened on 9 October 1882 and was met with high expectations. It had one platform, which served the Teign Valley Line. There was a wooden building situated on the Chudleigh side of the line: the River Teign was on the other side. There was a goods siding next to the station. The station was host to a GWR camp coach in 1939. A camping coach was positioned here by the Western Region from 1956 to 1958.The station was busy at peak hours, with commuters using it to travel to Exeter. Chudleigh town centre was over a mile away up the hill. The station closed to passengers on 9 June 1958 when passenger trains were withdrawn from the Teign Valley Line, and goods facilities were withdrawn on 4 December 1967, although for the last two years only coal traffic was handled here. The station was later demolished and the A38 road took its place a few years later. The Chudleigh Flood Platform was a wooden structure on higher ground on the line towards Trusham that was used when Chudleigh station was flooded, this being a regular seasonal occurrence. The only trace of the station is when leaving Chudleigh towards Newton Abbot, the dual carriageway junction is called "Chudleigh Station". The bridge remains in place just after the river bridge.
