Stover Country Park

Ventiford Brook is a stream located in Devon, England. It was used as one of the water courses that filled the Stover Canal, when it was in use, along with the River Teign and River Bovey. There are plans to restore the canal, in which case the Ventiford Brook would probably need to be the main source of water for the canal.The brook was also used as the basis for filling Stover Lake, which is located in the Stover Country Park near Bovey Tracey.

Heathfield is an industrial estate in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England. It is located 2 miles south east of Bovey Tracey and is next to the A382 and A38 roads. In 2011 it had a population of 1832.

Heathfield railway station, originally Chudleigh Road railway station before the Teign Valley Line opened, was on the Moretonhampstead and South Devon Railway at Heathfield, nearly 4 miles from Newton Abbot, Devon, England.

Ilford Park Polish Home is a residential and nursing care home in Stover, Devon, in England run by the Ministry of Defence. The site was one of 45 resettlement camps established by the National Assistance Board in the late 1940s to cater for Polish veterans entitled to remain in the UK under the Polish Resettlement Act 1947. Ilford Park is the last of the camps to remain in operation and can cater for around 100 residents. In 1992 residents were housed in a new home built on part of the site, the former camp remained derelict for a period but, as of 2022, some of the site has been redeveloped into a caravan site.

Stover is a historic estate in the parish of Teigngrace, about half way between the towns of Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey in South Devon, England. It was bought by James Templer (1722–1782) in 1765 and passed through three generations of that family before being bought by Edward St Maur, 11th Duke of Somerset in 1829. The Georgian mansion, sometimes called Stover House, was built by the first James Templer. It is a Grade II* listed building. Since 1932 the house and part of the former estate have been occupied by a private school. 114 acres of the former estate situated south of the A38 now forms Stover Country Park, a nature reserve owned and managed by Devon County Council and open to the public.

Located at Trago Mills Regional Shopping Centre, Newton Abbot, the 10+1⁄4 in (260 mm) ridable miniature railway Bickington Steam Railway was opened in 1988, using equipment recovered from the Suffolk Wildlife Park, which itself was taken from Rudyard Lake.

Chudleigh Knighton Heath, near Chudleigh Knighton, Devon is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, so designated because of its rare lowland heath vegetation. It is a habitat for many rare species including the ant, Formica exsecta. This is one of only two wild colonies in England, the other being at Bovey Heath.The site is leased by the Devon Wildlife Trust from Sibelco formerly WBB Minerals. The Trust have created several ponds noted for 12 breeding species of dragonfly including the scarce Keeled Skimmer.The Heath was once the village's main football pitch and was the venue for many sports days for Chudleigh Knighton Church of England Primary School. However the pitch fell into disrepair and was unsuitable for sporting activities, so the School opened its own private sports field opposite to the village play park. The football pitch is now used by local dog walkers, the football posts are still standing today, though they are a little rusty.

Trago Mills (often known simply as Trago) is a chain of four department stores in south Cornwall, south Devon in England, and south Wales. It owns a site with an amusement park and some independent businesses, adjoining the store near Newton Abbot. Three are in town outskirts: Liskeard in Cornwall; Newton Abbot in Devon, and Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. Another is in Falmouth, Cornwall. The company emphasises cheapness and variety of stock.

Seale-Hayne College was an agricultural college in Devon, England, which operated from 1919 to 2005. It was the only agricultural college in the United Kingdom whose buildings were purpose designed and built. It was located 3 miles from Newton Abbot. The college was established in accordance with the will of Charles Seale Hayne (1833-1903), a Liberal politician who was a Devon land-owner. The college was built between 1912 and 1914, but its opening was delayed by the start of the First World War. During the war it served as a training centre for Land Girls, and in 1918 and 1919 it operated as a military neurasthenic hospital for the treatment of soldiers suffering from shell shock.The first students arrived in 1920. During the Second World War the college was used for the training of the second Women's Land Army. After the war the college was significantly expanded, and by 1986 there were over 1,000 students. In 1989 the college merged with Plymouth Polytechnic to form the Seale-Hayne Faculty of Agriculture, Food & Land Use, Polytechnic South West, and Polytechnic South West became the University of Plymouth in 1992. In 2005 the university closed the college, and staff and students were transferred to Plymouth.Until 31 January 2019 the Seale-Hayne site was used by Dame Hannah Rogers Trust, which provided education, therapy, care and respite for children and young people with profound physical disabilities as well as a centre to hold events to raise funds for the Dame Hannah Rogers School in Ivybridge.Notable former pupils of the College, known as "Seale-Haynians", include: T C Ivens (1921-1988), orchid grower, fly fisherman and author. Richard Ashworth (born 1947), dairy farmer and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Adam Henson (born 1966), English farmer, author and television presenter.

Chudleigh Knighton Halt was on the Teign Valley Line serving the small village of Chudleigh Knighton, Devon, England. The halt, built by the Great Western Railway at a later date than most of the other stations on the line, was located on the west side of Pipehouse Lane off the B3344, to the south of the village. The first station was constructed of timber with a small corrugated iron pagoda shelter and a simple nameboard, at a cost £300. After WW2 a concrete platform was provided. A level crossing was located at the platform end. The track was still in situ in 1969, but goods facilities were withdrawn on 4 December 1967. Passenger numbers reached their peak in the 1930s with seven daily services provided each way between Exeter and Heathfield. During World War 2 this was reduced to four trains in each direction, still with no trains on a Sunday. This was increased to five daily trains after the war.The A38 road now runs over the site of the halt and nothing remains of the station.

The battle of Bovey Heath took place on 9 January 1646 at Bovey Tracey and Bovey Heath (about 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Exeter in Devon, England) during the First English Civil War. A Parliamentarian cavalry detachment under the command of Oliver Cromwell surprised and routed the Lord Wentworth's Royalist camp. After a series of losses for the Royalists in the southwest of England, they had retreated to Exeter and beyond. The Parliamentarian New Model Army besieged Exeter, and when a Royalist army was raised to try to relieve the city, the Parliamentarian commander, Sir Thomas Fairfax launched a preemptive strike. He first sent Cromwell to attack the cavalry lodged at Bovey Heath, where they were able to rout the Royalists who were not prepared for an attack. Wentworth and most of his leading commanders were able to escape, but Wentworth was stripped of command of the Royalist army in the West, which passed to the Lord Hopton.

Bovey Heath is a 32 hectare (50 acre) area of heathland between Bovey Tracey and Heathfield in south Devon, England. Although primarily heathland habitat, the site has some wet mature oak woodland, and is home to rare species such as the Dartford warbler, European stonechat, European nightjar and the narrow headed ant. The reserve has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1989. It became a Devon Wildlife Trust nature reserve in 2002 and a Local Nature Reserve in 2003.
