Windlestone Hall

Leasingthorne is a hamlet and former pit village in County Durham, England. It is situated to the east of Bishop Auckland, near Coundon. Located in the Durham Coalfield, most of the former pit village of Leasingthorne was demolished in 1969 after the colliery closed, as Durham County Council's policy at the time preferred demolition over regeneration. There was also a brickworks in the village. In the 2001 census the village had a population of 41.

Woodham Golf and Country Club (formerly known as Rushyford Golf Club) is a golf club in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, England. The course, set over 229 acres (0.93 km2) of parkland, opened in 1981, and was designed by James Hamilton-Stutt. The club's head professional is Ernie Wilson. Which was in administration but now been bought by Hall Construction Services and is now open. Middridge is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England. It is situated east of Shildon and north-west of Newton Aycliffe. The village is situated near a quarry that was mined by the people many generations ago. There is one public house in the village: the Bay Horse. In 2011 the parish had a population of 312.

Rushyford is a village in County Durham, England. It is situated between Darlington and Durham, close to Newton Aycliffe and Chilton. About 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the village is Windlestone Hall, a 16th-century country house which was significantly enlarged in the early 19th Century, historically the seat of the Eden family. The Prime Minister between 1955 and 1957, and later Earl of Avon, Anthony Eden was born in the house in 1897. The intersection of the A167 and the A689 roads is to the village's immediate north-east.

Greenfield Academy (formerly Greenfield Secondary School and then Greenfield Community College) is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located on the outskirts of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, England. It was opened in 1974 and was visited by Tony Blair on 30 June 2000 when it was awarded specialist status as an Arts and Science College. Greenfield provides a range of opportunities in and out of the classroom. The strength of the provision was noted by OFSTED, who rated the school as Requires Improvement in May 2017 and again in September 2019. Previously a foundation school administered by Durham County Council, in September 2023 Greenfield Community College converted to academy status and was renamed Greenfield Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Advance Learning Partnership.

Newton Aycliffe is a town in County Durham, England. Founded in 1947 under the New Towns Act of 1946, the town is 5 miles (8.0 km) to the north of Darlington and 10 miles (16 km) to the south of Durham. It is the oldest new town in the north of England. Together with the bordering Aycliffe Village (to the south) and the north part of School Aycliffe (to the west), it forms the civil parish of Great Aycliffe. The population of the town at the time of the 2021 census was 26,415.
