Opsterland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɔpstərlɑnt] ; West Frisian: Opsterlân) is a municipality in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands.

Beetsterzwaag (West Frisian: Beetstersweach) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland in the Netherlands. It had a population of around 3,485 in January 2017. Beetsterzwaag is known for its estates and manor houses.

Lauswolt is an estate in Beetsterzwaag, Friesland, the Netherlands, dating back to the 17th century. The estate is currently being used as a hotel. The restaurant, called De Heeren van Harinxma, had a Michelin star between 2001 and 2006 and has one as of 2022. Lauswolt was the location of talks between CDA, the Labour Party and ChristianUnion for the formation of a new government. The negotiations were intended to be secret, but De Telegraaf newspaper revealed Lauswolt as the location on the very first day of the talks.

Boornbergum (West Frisian: Boarnburgum) is a village in Smallingerland municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,681 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1543 as Berghum, and means hill by river Boorne. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1734 after the bell tower of its medieval predecessor had collapsed the year before. In the 18th century peat was being excavated in the area.Boornbergum was home to 328 people in 1840. In 1893, a dairy factory opened in Boornbergum. The factory has been turned in office space and apartments.

Olterterp is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 75 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1505 as Otterterp, and means "outer settlement". The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1414 or 1415 as a replacement of an earlier church. The church was built without a tower. The tower was added in 1744.Olterterp was home to 154 people in 1840. Most of the land was owned by Ambrosius Ayso van Boelens. Around 1850, van Boelens started to cultivate the wilderness and turn it into farmland.

In January 2000, the restaurant moved to Drachten.In 1996, chef Gaastra called in the fire department because of a strong gas smell. De Wilgen (West Frisian: De Wylgen) is a small village in Smallingerland municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 651 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1580 De Wilgen, and refers to the willow tree. In 1672, it was side of battle with the Prince-Bishop of Münster. The Dutch three soldiers who died are in an honorary grave.De Wilgen was home to 150 people in 1840. De Wilgen never had a church, but started to grow in the 1970s as a suburb of Drachten.
