El Plantío is a ward (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Moncloa-Aravaca. The Colegio Japonés de Madrid, a Japanese international school, is in El Plantío.

The Colegio Japonés de Madrid (CJM) (マドリッド日本人学校, Madoriddo Nihonjin Gakkō, Spanish: "Japanese College of Madrid") is a Japanese international school in the El Plantío area of Moncloa-Aravaca, Madrid, in the city's northwestern portion. Many Japanese families, particularly those with children, live in northwest Madrid, in proximity to the school. It was established on September 1, 1981 (Shōwa 56).The Escuela Complementaria Japonesa de Madrid (ECJ; マドリッド補習授業校 Madoriddo Hoshū Jugyō Kō), a Japanese supplementary school, is a part of the CJM. The ECJ was merged into the Madrid Japanese School in April 1996 (Heisei Year 8).As of 2011 the day school had fewer than 30 students, and as of 2012 it had 28 students. It gives progress evaluations to students, ranked 1 through 5, taking into account the students' maturity levels. It does not use suspensions or recoveries. Students who are higher performing help those who need assistance.

The Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Madrid is the diplomatic mission of North Korea to Spain. In February 2001 Spain and North Korea established diplomatic relations. In 2003, plans to open a diplomatic mission were halted due to North Korea's withdrawal from Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. On 1 October 2013, Kim Hyok-chol became the first DPRK ambassador in Spain when his country opened its new embassy in Madrid. In September 2017 he was expelled as a persona non grata after a North Korean nuclear weapon's test on 3 September 2017. As of 2019, Yun Suk-so remains the highest ranking diplomatic official, with the title of Commercial Attaché.

Aravaca is a ward (Barrio) of the city of Madrid, in Moncloa-Aravaca district. It is 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from the city centre, on the other side of Casa de Campo park. The population of the barrio is 29,547 (January 2006), divided into three areas: Aravaca (23,145), Valdemarín (4,000) and El Plantío (2,469)

The Cristo Yacente (Dead Christ) of El Pardo, is a life-size polychromed sculpture by Spanish sculptor Gregorio Fernández, executed between 1614 and 1615. Housed in a chapel of the Capuchin Monastery of El Pardo (Madrid), the sculpture was commissioned by King Philip III to celebrate the birth of his son Philip IV. The Cristo yacente of El Pardo is the most famous of the fourteen "Cristos" produced by Fernández and his workshop. As devotional images, many of them were processed during Holy Week with other “pasos” (elaborate religious floats adorned with sculptures depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ). All these images were created in accordance with Counter-Reformation ideology that required realism in religious images to impress and move the believer.

The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) is an international, non-profit association advocating the interests of the photography and imaging magazine-publishing industry. The association represents 30 titles, published in eight European countries and seven non-European countries.

The First Battle of the Corunna Road took place between 29 November and 3 December 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. The Nationalists tried to isolate Madrid from the west, cutting the Corunna Road, but the Republican army repelled the attack.

Avenida de Europa is a station on Line 2 of the Metro Ligero. It is in fare Zone B1.

The Casita del Príncipe (Spanish for 'Cottage of the Prince') is an eighteenth-century house near the Royal Palace of El Pardo which is set in a hunting estate north of Madrid.
