Notts Golf Club, more commonly referred to simply as Hollinwell, is an 18-hole members golf club in Nottinghamshire, England which has hosted a number of leading amateur and professional competitions. The course has widely been reviewed as one of the top 50 courses in England and the British Isles.

The 1906 News of the World Match Play was the fourth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 October at Notts Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. Sandy Herd defeated Charles Mayo 8 & 7 in the final to win the tournament.

Hollinwell and Annesley (previously Hollin Well and Annesley) railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in November 1901 and closed in September 1962. It was one of the earliest closures on the section from Nottingham to Sheffield.

Annesley railway station was a station in Annesley, Nottinghamshire. It was opened in 1874, to serve the mining village of Annesley which had grown following the opening of Annesley colliery in 1865. It was closed in 1953 as part of the post-war cutback, and the line closed to passengers in 1964. The station did not reopen as part of the Robin Hood Line project in the 1990s.

Newstead and Annesley railway station was a station on the Great Northern Railway's Nottingham to Shirebrook line.

Annesley South Junction Halt railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in July 1923 and closed in September 1962 with it being a short lived station on the line.

Newstead railway station serves the village of Newstead in Nottinghamshire, England. Newstead was the original terminus of the Robin Hood Line when it was re-opened in 1993 by British Rail, under the Regional Railways sector. The line has since been extended to Mansfield and Worksop. Annesley, just to the north of Newstead, did not re-open. Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of Lord Byron is about two to three miles away and is served by this station.

It is situated between the city of Nottingham and the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Hucknall. A former coal mining village, and previously called Newstead Colliery Village. Lord Byron, the poet, lived at nearby Newstead Abbey. The parish is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys. It has a population of 1,194, increasing to 1,312 at the 2011 census.Newstead Primary School is a state run primary school for children aged 5 to 11. Newstead railway station is on the Robin Hood Line, which runs from Nottingham to Worksop.

Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society (MSAS) is an amateur astronomical society in the East Midlands of England. It was formed in 1969. It is based at Sherwood Observatory, a 61 cm mirror telescope which it owns and operates. The observatory lies 4 km south west of the centre of Mansfield on one of the highest points in the county of Nottinghamshire.The society is a member of The Federation of Astronomical Societies.

Sherwood Observatory is an amateur astronomical observatory in Nottinghamshire, England, owned and operated by Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society. The main dome is 6.5m in diameter and houses a 0.61 m Newtonian Reflecting telescope. There is a club meeting room that hosts society meetings and lectures and also serves as a lecture theatre for the public on open evenings. The complex has workshop, kitchen, office, storage and toilet facilities.
