Notts Golf Club

The 1906 News of the World Match Play was the fourth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 October at Notts Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. Sandy Herd defeated Charles Mayo 8 & 7 in the final to win the tournament.

Hollinwell and Annesley (previously Hollin Well and Annesley) railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in November 1901 and closed in September 1962. It was one of the earliest closures on the section from Nottingham to Sheffield.

Robin Hood Hills are a steep sided range of sandstone hills forming a natural amphitheatre surrounding the villages of Annesley and Newstead in Nottinghamshire, England. Robin Hood's Cave lies at the bottom of the hills. They rise to a height of 195 metres above sea level at Coxmoor, Kirkby-in-Ashfield. A railway tunnel passes underneath the hills on the Robin Hood Line railway between Newstead railway station and Kirkby-in-Ashfield railway station.

Annesley railway station was a station in Annesley, Nottinghamshire. It was opened in 1874, to serve the mining village of Annesley which had grown following the opening of Annesley colliery in 1865. It was closed in 1953 as part of the post-war cutback, and the line closed to passengers in 1964. The station did not reopen as part of the Robin Hood Line project in the 1990s.

It is situated between the city of Nottingham and the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Hucknall. A former coal mining village, and previously called Newstead Colliery Village. Lord Byron, the poet, lived at nearby Newstead Abbey. The parish is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys. It has a population of 1,194, increasing to 1,312 at the 2011 census.Newstead Primary School is a state run primary school for children aged 5 to 11. Newstead railway station is on the Robin Hood Line, which runs from Nottingham to Worksop.

Newstead railway station serves the village of Newstead in Nottinghamshire, England. Newstead was the original terminus of the Robin Hood Line when it was re-opened in 1993 by British Rail, under the Regional Railways sector. The line has since been extended to Mansfield and Worksop. Annesley, just to the north of Newstead, did not re-open. Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of Lord Byron is about two to three miles away and is served by this station.

Annesley South Junction Halt railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in July 1923 and closed in September 1962 with it being a short lived station on the line.

Annesley is a village and civil parish in the Ashfield district of Nottinghamshire, England, between Hucknall and Kirkby-in-Ashfield. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 1,162 (including Annesley Woodhouse to the west).Annesley Hall is a grade two listed building, once owned by the Chaworth-Musters family, which has connections to the Byron family of nearby Newstead Abbey. Annesley Old Church was mentioned by Lord Byron and D. H. Lawrence. There is also close by the earthworks of Annesley Castle. The Misk Hills lie to the south of the village. Annesley is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys area. The parish is grouped with the neighbouring parish of Felley to elect a joint parish council. The old church of Annesley was dedicated to All Saints. It was allowed to become derelict in the 1940s. Features of interest included the east window of the south aisle, the 13th century sedilia and the 17th century royal arms in stucco.The village is on the A611 for Mansfield near junction 27 of the M1. Nearby to the south is the roundabout with the A608, which is now a thoroughfare to Sherwood Park Enterprise Zone. It was connected to Nottingham by rail until Annesley railway station closed in 1953.

Outwood Academy Kirkby (formerly Kirkby Comprehensive School and then Kirkby College) is a mixed secondary school located in Kirkby-in-Ashfield town centre, Nottinghamshire, England.Previously a foundation school administered by Nottinghamshire County Council, Kirkby College converted to academy status on 1 August 2012. The school continues to coordinate with Nottinghamshire County Council for admissions. In September 2022 Kirby College joined the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and was renamed Outwood Academy Kirkby.
