Newstead railway station

Newstead is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England in the borough of Gedling. It is situated between the city of Nottingham and the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Hucknall. A former coal mining village, and previously called Newstead Colliery Village. Lord Byron, the poet, lived at nearby Newstead Abbey. The parish is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys. It has a population of 1,194, increasing to 1,312 at the 2011 census.Newstead Primary School is a state run primary school for children aged 5 to 11. Newstead railway station is on the Robin Hood Line, which runs from Nottingham to Worksop.

Newstead and Annesley railway station was a station on the Great Northern Railway's Nottingham to Shirebrook line.

Annesley South Junction Halt railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in July 1923 and closed in September 1962 with it being a short lived station on the line.

Annesley railway station was a station in Annesley, Nottinghamshire. It was opened in 1874, to serve the mining village of Annesley which had grown following the opening of Annesley colliery in 1865. It was closed in 1953 as part of the post-war cutback, and the line closed to passengers in 1964. The station did not reopen as part of the Robin Hood Line project in the 1990s.

Hollinwell and Annesley (previously Hollin Well and Annesley) railway station is a former station on the Great Central Railway on the section from Nottingham Victoria to Sheffield Victoria. The station was opened in November 1901 and closed in September 1962. It was one of the earliest closures on the section from Nottingham to Sheffield.

Notts Golf Club, more commonly referred to simply as Hollinwell, is an 18-hole members golf club in Nottinghamshire, England which has hosted a number of leading amateur and professional competitions. The course has widely been reviewed as one of the top 50 courses in England and the British Isles.

The 1906 News of the World Match Play was the fourth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 October at Notts Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. Sandy Herd defeated Charles Mayo 8 & 7 in the final to win the tournament.

The Misk Hills consist of a gently undulating sandstone plateau between Hucknall and Annesley in the county of Nottinghamshire in the North East Midlands of England. They offer views Southwards across the town of Hucknall, and the City of Nottingham. They are locally considered to be the first hills in the Pennine Chain, and rise to a high point of 170 metres above sea level from the flat plains to the east. The hills are the source of three minor watercourses, the Gilt Brook, the Whyburn (Hucknall's 'Town brook') and Farleys Brook. They separate the Leen Valley from the Erewash Valley.

All Saints' Church, Annesley is a parish church in the Church of England in Annesley, Nottinghamshire. The church is Grade II* listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a particularly significant building of more than local interest.

Robin Hood Hills are a steep sided range of sandstone hills forming a natural amphitheatre surrounding the villages of Annesley and Newstead in Nottinghamshire, England. Robin Hood's Cave lies at the bottom of the hills. They rise to a height of 195 metres above sea level at Coxmoor, Kirkby-in-Ashfield. A railway tunnel passes underneath the hills on the Robin Hood Line railway between Newstead railway station and Kirkby-in-Ashfield railway station.

Linby railway station was a station on what is now the Robin Hood Line. It was used predominantly to serve Linby Colliery. It shut in 1964. When the line was re-opened in the 1990s it was decided not to re-open Linby station, or the nearby Annesley railway station.

Linby (Great Northern Railway) was a railway station on the Great Northern Railway's Nottingham to Shirebrook line.
