Ell Pond is a lake in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The pond is 0.3 miles (480 m) north of Melrose city center.Ell Pond, formerly also written "L Pond", was so named on account of its L-shape. A variant name is "Crystal Pond".

Melrose is a city located in the Greater Boston metropolitan area in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. Its population, per the 2020 United States Census, is 29,817. It is a suburb located approximately seven miles north of Boston. It is situated in the center of the triangle created by Interstates 93, 95 and U.S. Route 1. The land that comprises Melrose was first settled in 1628 and was once part of Charlestown and then Malden. It became the Town of Melrose in 1850 and then the City of Melrose in 1900.

The Melrose Public Library is a historic library at 69 W. Emerson Street in Melrose, Massachusetts. The original T-shaped building was built in 1904, and is a two-story Colonial Revival structure faced in brick with limestone trim. It was built with funds contributed by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie to a design by Lynn architect Penn Varney, and features stained glass windows by Wilbur H. Burnham. A modern single story addition was added in 1963 to the rear and left side of the building.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.The Library is a member of the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE) consortium.

Melrose High School (MHS) is a public high school serving children in grades 9–12. It is located at 360 Lynn Fells Parkway in Melrose, Massachusetts, United States and is Melrose's only high school. Enrollment for the 2010–2011 school year is 987 students. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) and is a member of the METCO program.

Larrabee's Brick Block is a historic commercial and residential building at 500-504 Main Street in Melrose, Massachusetts. It is one of only two relatively unaltered 19th century commercial buildings in Melrose. The three story brick Second Empire building was built in 1880 by John Larrabee, on the site of a wood frame meeting hall. The block is built of brick laid in stretcher bond, and its third floor is under a mansard roof typical of the style. The ground floor consists of two storefronts with recessed entrances and plate glass windows, and a separate recessed entrance giving access to the upper residential floors. The second floor facade has two projecting bay windows, decorated with brackets and panel trim, above the two store fronts, and a sash window above the residential entrance. The mansard roof originally had single window dormers, but c. 1910, all but one of these (the one above the residential entrance) were removed and replaced by extensions of the second story bay windows.The north elevation is also decorated with some elaboration, even though it faces a narrow passage. Windows on the second floor are topped by segmented arches and brick corbelled hoods, and the mansard roof is pierced by six dormers similar in style to the original one on the front. Windows on the south elevation are more simply styled, having only segmented arch lintels, and the cornice becomes simpler towards the rear of the building. The back elevation is also simply decorated, and is mostly obscured by a c. 1930s vernacular three-tier porch.The interior of the building has also retained most of its original finishes. The ground floor shops have tin ceilings and walls, and original maple flooring, and the upper residential units retain much of the original woodwork, including fireplace mantels, wainscoting, and molded door and window surrounds.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Downtown Melrose is the central business district of Melrose, Massachusetts. It is known for its nineteenth century Victorian architecture and its many small family-owned stores. Downtown Melrose is generally classified as the area on Main Street from Grove Street to Essex/Upham Streets. Part of the area, running on Main Street just northeast of the junction with Upham and Essex Streets, is included in the Melrose Town Center Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 1, 1982. This district encompasses seven buildings, including city hall, the main fire station, Memorial Hall, the Coolidge School, and the Baptist and Methodist churches.

The Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic church at 131 W. Emerson Street in Melrose, Massachusetts. The main church building was constructed in 1886 to a design by Boston architect Charles Brigham. It is connected to its parish house, built in 1936 with a significant addition in 1956. The main building is English Revival (Tudor) in styling. Its walls are made of multiple colors of granite, and are topped by a steeply pitched slate roof. There is a large projecting gable section on the southern facade, which, along with the tower in the southeastern corner, has the half-timber styling typical of the Tudor Revival. The eastern facade has a projecting curved section, which houses the apse on the interior; it is from this section that the church is connected to the parish house via the somewhat utilitarian 1956 addition. The parish house was designed in Shingle Style by Boston architect and parish member William H. Smith, although with sympathy to the Tudor styling of the church.The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Melrose/Cedar Park is an MBTA Commuter Rail station located in downtown Melrose, Massachusetts. The station has two low-level platforms serving the two tracks of the Haverhill Line; it is not accessible.

The Phineas Upham House is a historic house at 255 Upham Street in Melrose, Massachusetts. Built in the early 18th century, it is a well preserved example of First Period architecture. Owned by a family association, it is only occasionally open to the public. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Beebe Estate is a historic property in Melrose, Massachusetts. Developed in 1828, the main house is a prominent example of Greek Revival architecture, with an ownership history of prominent local and Boston businessmen. Now owned by the city, it is used as an art gallery and cultural event center. The estate was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The East Side is a Melrose, Massachusetts neighborhood located on the east side of the city. It stretches roughly from Lebanon Street east to the Saugus, Massachusetts line and is positioned in between the Mount Hood Golf Club neighborhood (to the south) and the Horace Mann neighborhood (to the north).

Melrose Highlands is an MBTA Commuter Rail station on the Haverhill Line located in the Melrose Highlands neighborhood of Melrose, Massachusetts. It is the most used station in the city, and was originally planned to be a station on the cancelled extension of the Orange Line to Reading. The station is accessible.
