Botley is a historic village in Hampshire, England. The village was once described as "the most delightful village in the world" by 18th century journalist and radical politician William Cobbett. The village was developed as a natural crossing point for the River Hamble, and received its first market charter from Henry III in 1267. The village grew on the success of its mill, its coaching inns, and more recently strawberries. Botley today, reflects its heritage and retains its traditional charm. Visitors may walk the self guided Cobbett trail, stop for refreshments at the many excellent local venues, visit the individual shops in the Square or Botley Mills. However, Botley is also cited in extensive scenic countryside, close to Manor Farm, River Hamble Country Park and the River Hamble, the long distance Strawberry Trail, and the picturesque coast of the Solent at Hamble-le-Rice.

Admiral Edward Sparshott (3 March 1788 – 9 November 1873) was an English officer of the Royal Navy, serving during the Napoleonic Wars. As midshipman on HMS Centaur, flagship of Sir Samuel Hood, he was present at the surrender of Madeira. As captain, he commanded HMS Prince Regent, and HMS Winchester, flagships of Sir Henry Blackwood and Sir Thomas Bladen Capel, besides HMS Rochfort as post-captain under Charles Marsh Schomberg. He retired as captain, and ended his life with the rank of retired admiral. Sparshott was descended from a Hampshire farming family, and was the youngest of eleven siblings. His brother was Commander Samuel Sparshott, R.N.

Botley railway station serves Botley and the surrounding areas in the English county of Hampshire. The station is on the railway line between Eastleigh and Fareham, 78 miles 72 chains (127.0 km) from London Waterloo. Although named after the nearby village of Botley, which is within the boundaries of the Borough of Eastleigh, the station is actually located in the civil parish of Curdridge, which falls within the boundaries of the City of Winchester.

Upper Hamble Estuary and Woods is a 151.2-hectare (374-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Southampton in Hampshire. It is part of Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and of Solent Maritime Special Area of Conservation. Part of the site is in Manor Farm Country Park, which is a Local Nature Reserve.This site comprises the upper estuary of the River Hamble, together with adjoining saltmarsh, reedswamp and ancient semi-natural woodland. The woods have a diverse ground flora and invertebrate fauna. There is also a narrow zone of mudflats, with large numbers of marine worms, crustaceans and molluscs, which provide food for birds.

Curdridge is a village and civil parish within the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, England. The parish also contains the similarly named village of Curbridge. The village has a small school. The parish is located eight miles to the east of Southampton and had a population of 1,292 people in 473 households in the 2001 census, the population increasing to 1,398 in 520 households at the 2011 Census. Curdridge is also known for its annual Curdridge Country Show that takes place in a field off Reading Room Lane Although named after the nearby village of Botley, Botley railway station is actually located in the civil parish of Curdridge.

The Curdridge Country Show is an annual country fair in Curdridge, Hampshire, England. The event is held mid-July on a Saturday, and attracts up to 7000 attendees each year. 2013 was to be the show's 57th year. The show includes a dog show, falconry display, and a vintage car parade There is a horticultural competition with numerous categories. Vendor booths sell crafts and other items with demonstrations. The show also has side shows such as a coconut shy, plate smashing and tombolas. A barbecue, hog roast and bar provide refreshments.t. A traditional barn dance is held on the last Saturday.

Long Common is a village in the civil parish of Botley in the Eastleigh district of Hampshire, England. It lies approximately 5.6 miles (9.0 km) north-east from Southampton.

Burridge is a small village in the Borough of Fareham, south of Hampshire, England. It lies approximately 14 miles south of Winchester on the A3051 between Botley and Park Gate. It is also to the north of Sarisbury and to the west of Whiteley. The village was formerly known as Caiger's Green, but the name Burridge became more popular as the village grew (named after Burridge Farm). Burridge AFC has four adult sides, playing in the Drew Smith Southampton Saturday League, Gosport & Fareham Football League and the Meon Valley Football League. Burridge Cricket Club's first XI plays in the second division of the Southern Electric Premier Cricket League. Burridge and Swanwick Residents Association serves the local community. Durley Mill is a hamlet between Botley and Bishops Waltham in Hampshire, England. It once had a small intermediate halt on the Bishops Waltham branch.

River Hamble Country Park is a 144.1-hectare (356-acre) Local Nature Reserve which runs along the west bank of the River Hamble between the villages of Botley and Bursledon in Hampshire. It is owned by Hampshire County Council and managed by Hampshire Countryside Service. It is part of Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and of Solent Maritime Special Area of Conservation. Part of it is in Upper Hamble Estuary and Woods, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Durley Halt railway station was the only intermediate stop on the 3+3⁄4 mile Bishops Waltham branch line that connected Bishops Waltham to Botley. Opened in 1909 it was only ever lightly used but remained open to passengers until the last train called on 31 December 1932; Freight trains continued along the line past the station until 1962.
