Sagehen Creek Field Station

The Sagehen Hills are a low mountain range in Nevada County, California.The Sagehen Hills are part of the Sagehen Creek watershed and lie entirely within the Sagehen Experimental Forest. Research has been a major management focus for the Sagehen basin since the founding of Sagehen Creek Field Station in 1951. The Sagehen basin, including Sagehen Hills, differs from the surrounding watersheds in that it is essentially formed of un-glaciated volcanic overburden. Most of the Tahoe-Donner area is glacially scoured down to granite bed rock.

Tahoe Donner Downhill is a small ski resort with five ski lifts and 14+ trails, in Truckee, California 4.5 mi (7.2 km) northeast of Donner Pass. There are five chairlifts, three conveyor lifts, and 14 trails.

Tahoe Donner is a large home owners association located in the Sierra Nevada, off of Highway I-80, in Truckee, California, which offers a ski resort, golf course, and other amenities. Tahoe Donner is one of America's largest homeowner's associations, with 6,473 properties, more than 23,000 members, and more than 7,000 acres in the Sierra Nevada mountains. In 2017, USA Today voting panelists ranked Tahoe Donner "Number two for Best Cross Country Ski Resort in the U.S. and Canada." In addition to the ski resort, Tahoe Donner amenities (some semi-private) include a private beach club and marina on Donner Lake, the Alder Creek Adventure Center (which includes a ski center, cafe, bar, bike shop, an equestrian center with horseback riding trails), a golf course, walking trails in the Euer Valley, the Trout Creek Recreation Center, and the Club House. In the winter, Tahoe Donner offers alpine and cross-country skiing, snow play. The ski area usually opens 24–36 hours after receiving two to three feet of snow. The downhill ski area includes two chairlifts, three surface lifts, and more than a dozen trails. During the summer, the association offers activities such as golf, swimming, tennis, and hiking.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 16,180, reflecting an increase of 2,316 from the 13,864 counted in the 2000 Census and having the 316th highest population in California and 2114th in the United States.

Prosser Creek Dam (National ID # CA10179) is a dam in Nevada County, California.The earthen and rockfill dam was constructed from 1959 to 1962 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation with a height of 163 feet (50 m) feet and a crest length of 1,830 feet (560 m). It impounds Prosser Creek (a tributary of the Truckee River) for irrigation storage and winter and spring flood control, part of the Bureau's larger Washoe Project in the Tahoe region. The dam is owned and operated by the Bureau. The reservoir it creates, Prosser Creek Reservoir, has a water surface of about 750 acres (300 ha), a shoreline of approximately 11 miles (18 km), and has a capacity of 29,800 acre-feet (36,800,000 m3). Recreation includes fishing (for rainbow and brown trout), boating, camping, hunting, and hiking.

Donner Memorial State Park is a state park of California, US, preserving the site of the Donner Camp, where members of the ill-fated Donner Party were trapped by weather during the winter of 1846–1847. Caught without shelter or adequate supplies, members of the group resorted to cannibalism to survive. The Sierra Nevada site has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The state park contains the Emigrant Trail Museum and the Pioneer Monument dedicated to the travelers of the Emigrant Trail. Donner Memorial State Park is located outside Truckee, California. It has 2.5 miles (4.0 km) of hiking trails, campgrounds, and 3 miles (4.8 km) of lake frontage on Donner Lake, east of Donner Pass. The 3,293-acre (1,333 ha) park was established in 1928.

Donner Lake, formerly known as Truckee Lake, is a freshwater lake in Northeast California on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada and about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of the much larger Lake Tahoe. A moraine serves as a natural dam for the lake. The lake is located in the town of Truckee, between Interstate 80 to the north and Schallenberger Ridge to the south. The tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad run along Schallenberger Ridge and closely follow the route of the original transcontinental railroad. The historic route of the Lincoln Highway, the first automobile road across America and US 40 follows the northern shoreline, then climbs to Donner Pass from where the entire lake may be viewed. Both the lake and the pass were named after the ill-fated Donner Party, which wintered involuntarily near the lake in 1846. Donner Memorial State Park is on the east end of the lake and provides campsites with access to several different beaches. There are also various hiking trails in the park.

The Commercial Row–Brickelltown Historic District is a historic district in downtown Truckee, California. Developed from 1870 to 1930, the district includes the significant parts of Truckee's early commercial district. Due to several major fires, the district had several distinct construction and rebuilding periods; the fires also destroyed several significant buildings, including the stagecoach station which established the site of the city's downtown. To protect them from fires, most of the surviving commercial buildings were built with stone or brick. Once the Central Pacific Railroad was completed through Truckee in 1869, it became one of the city's main economic drivers; the Commercial Row district's businesses mainly catered to workers and travelers on the railroad. The Brickelltown district, meanwhile, housed and served workers in Truckee's other main industry, lumber. In the twentieth century, both industries declined due to economic shifts and the Great Depression; the city, and Commercial Row in particular, instead built a tourist economy on visitors to the region's recreational activities.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 8, 2009.

The Kruger House (or C.B. White House) is a historic building located at 10292 Donner Pass Road, in Truckee, Nevada County, northern California. The mansion was built in 1873–1874 by W. H. Kruger, who was then a partner in the Truckee Lumber Company. It was originally designed as a single-family residence, in the Queen Anne Eastlake Victorian style. It served as a hotel in the early 20th century. The restored building currently houses a restaurant and specialty store, in the Brickelltown neighborhood west of downtown Truckee. In 1982 it was registered with the California Office of Historic Preservation, and added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Truckee station is an Amtrak train station in Truckee, California. It is currently served by one daily passenger train in each direction, the California Zephyr. The westbound train arrives in the morning from Chicago and Denver heading for Sacramento and Emeryville with the eastbound train calling in mid-afternoon. Truckee is also served by Amtrak's Thruway Motorcoaches which run three round trips a day between Sparks and connect to trains at Sacramento.
