The Barre common was laid out in 1792, and has been a focus of the town's civic life ever since, and is flanked by a number of high-quality Greek Revival buildings, as well as those in other styles. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Quabbin Regional High School is a secondary school in Barre, Massachusetts, United States, for students in grades 9–12. It serves the towns of Barre, Hardwick, Hubbardston, New Braintree, and Oakham. It also has a NJROTC program.

The Ware River Diversion is a dam on the Ware River. It is part of the Boston, Massachusetts public water supply system, maintained by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). It is located in Worcester County in the town of Barre, close to its border with Oakham.

The Barre Falls Dam is located on the Ware River in Barre, Massachusetts, about 0.3 miles (0.48 km) below the junction of the river's east and west branches and 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Worcester, Massachusetts. Designed and constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, this dam substantially reduces flooding along the Ware, Chicopee, and Connecticut rivers. Construction of the project began in May 1956 with completion in July 1958 at a cost of US$2 million. The Barre Falls reservoir is located within the Upper Ware River Watershed and is part of the Chicopee River Watershed. Access to the site is available from Route 62.

The District No. 5 School is an historic school building and local history museum at 311 East Road in Petersham, Massachusetts. It is one of two relatively unmodified one-room schoolhouses in the town that were built in 1849. It is presently managed by the local historical society as a local history museum. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Mount Jefferson, also known as Muzzy Hill, is a hill ridgeline located in Worcester County of Massachusetts, two miles NNW of Hubbardston. Mount Jefferson Road passes along the hill crest.

Massachusetts's 2nd congressional district is located in central Massachusetts. It contains the cities of Worcester, which is the second-largest city in New England after Boston, and Northampton in the Pioneer Valley. It is represented by Democrat Jim McGovern. The shape of the district was changed for the elections of 2012, after Massachusetts congressional redistricting to reflect the 2010 census. The new district covers central Massachusetts, including much of Worcester County, and is largely the successor to the old 3rd District. Most of the old 2nd district, including Springfield, has been moved into the new 1st district.

The Rev. Samuel Gay House is a historic house at 10 Williamsville Road in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1817 for Reverend Samuel Gay, a controversial local minister. The house is a fine local example of Federal style architecture, particularly noted for its front door surround, which has pilasters and a semicircular fanlight topped by an entablature. Reverend Gay was a polarizing figure in the local Congregational Church, which split in 1827, with Gay leading the formation of the Evangelical Congregational Church, which was more Calvinist in its teaching than the Unitarians who remained in the old congregation.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Fobes-O'Donnell House is a historic house museum at 1221 Old Turnpike Road in Oakham, Massachusetts. Probably built in the second half of the 18th century, it served as a tavern on what was then a major through road, and housed the town's first post office. It is now operated as a museum by the local historical society. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.
