Barre Common District

Barre ( BARR-ee) is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,530 at the 2020 census.

The No. 4 Schoolhouse is an historic school building on Farrington Road near Sunrise Avenue in Barre, Massachusetts. The one-room wood-frame schoolhouse was built in 1883, and was at least the second schoolhouse in the town's fourth district. The building served as a schoolhouse until 1930, when the town centralized its schools. In 1937 the building was purchased by a local community organization dedicated to its preservation. It has served as a community center since then.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Built about 1827, it is one of the rural community's few surviving 19th-century brick buildings. It served as a school until 1920, and was thereafter converted to a summer residence. The Fobes-O'Donnell House is a historic house museum at 1221 Old Turnpike Road in Oakham, Massachusetts. Probably built in the second half of the 18th century, it served as a tavern on what was then a major through road, and housed the town's first post office. It is now operated as a museum by the local historical society. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

The District No. 5 School is an historic school building and local history museum at 311 East Road in Petersham, Massachusetts. It is one of two relatively unmodified one-room schoolhouses in the town that were built in 1849. It is presently managed by the local historical society as a local history museum. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Tanner–Hiller Airport, (ICAO: K8B5, FAA LID: 8B5) in Barre, Massachusetts, is a public airport owned by the G&C Group of Acton, MA, who purchased the field from the Leonard A. Tanner Estate in May 2017. It has one runway, averages 30 flights per week, and has approximately 25 aircraft and hang gliders based on the field. During the summer months the airport is home to hang gliding operations and extensive ultralight activity. The airport sits adjacent to the Ware River and near to the town of New Braintree.

Wheelwright is a village in the town of Hardwick, Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States, approximately 20 miles (32 km) northwest of the city of Worcester. It is named after George W. Wheelwright, who owned the village's paper mill around the turn of the 20th century. The village is mostly residential now. There is a small plastics manufacturing shop on the mill site.
