Summit High School is a high school serving Summit County in the central Rocky Mountains of Colorado, United States. About 1,500 students attend the school from the surrounding mountain towns of Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone and Summit Cove. Summit Middle School, located in Frisco, is the only feeder school for Summit High School. The high school is located 75 miles west of Denver, between Breckenridge and Frisco, near the Farmer's Korner housing subdivision. It sits at an elevation of 9,050' (2,758m). Timothy Ridder serves as the school's principal and Brittny Acres as the assistant principal. Summit High offers AP, IB, DP, and college-level courses through Colorado Mountain College. The high school has a variety of sports offered not limited to but including: rugby, lacrosse, football, basketball, swimming, wrestling and track and field.

Silver Dollar Island is a small island in Summit County, Colorado. It is in the Blue River arm of the Dillon Reservoir, east of the Frisco Peninsula. Its coordinates are 39.5833199°N 106.0564078°W / 39.5833199; -106.0564078 (Silver Dollar Island) and it sits at an elevation of 2,750 meters. It appears on a 1970 USGS map of the area, along with Sentinel Island and Fishhook Island. The island is generally accessible by land via a small sand spit.

Breckenridge is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Summit County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 5,078 at the 2020 United States Census. Breckenridge is the principal town of the Breckenridge, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town also has many part-time residents, as many people have vacation homes in the area. The town is located at the base of the Tenmile Range. Since ski trails were first cut in 1961, Breckenridge Ski Resort has made the town a popular destination for skiers. Summer in Breckenridge attracts outdoor enthusiasts with hiking trails, wildflowers, fly-fishing in the Blue River, mountain biking, nearby Lake Dillon for boating, white water rafting, three alpine slides, a roller coaster, and many shops and restaurants up and down Main Street. The historic buildings along Main Street with their clapboard and log exteriors add to the charm of the town. Since 1981, Breckenridge has hosted the Breckenridge Festival of Film in September, while in January, the town has often been host to a screening of the Backcountry Film Festival. Also held in December is Ullr Fest, a week of festivities celebrating snow and honoring the Norse god Ullr. There are many summertime attractions to enjoy in Breckenridge, most notably the annual Fourth of July parade.

Preston is a ghost town in Summit County, Colorado. It is located east of modern Breckenridge, between Jessie mine in Gold Run Gulch and the Jumbo mine.

Fort Mary B was the first permanent structure in the Breckenridge, Colorado area. It was a wooden stockade built by the first prospecting party in 1859 due to the presence of Ute people in the area. It was named Fort Mary B for Mary Bigelow, the only woman in the party. The stockade covered a couple of acres and had a log cabin at each corner. The first log cabin was built by Ruben Spalding. The town of Breckenridge was established one mile south of the site, which is near the Wells Fargo Bank.It was first called Fort Independent or Fort Independence. The fort is also said to have been called Fort Breckenridge and Fort Meribeh. The town charter only list two names for the former Breckenridge area: Fort Meribeh and Fort Mary B.

Dillon Reservoir, sometimes referred to as Lake Dillon, is a large fresh water reservoir located in Summit County, Colorado, United States, south of I-70 and bordered by the towns of Frisco, Silverthorne, and Dillon. It is a reservoir for the city of Denver, and its waters are under the control of Denver Water. Popular ski areas are close to the reservoir, including Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Breckenridge.

The Frisco Schoolhouse (Site ID 5ST258), now a local museum registered on the National Register of Historic Places, is an original one-room schoolhouse located in the Frisco Historic Park in Frisco, Colorado. The schoolhouse is located on its original location. The building was first built as a saloon in the 1890s and later (c.1902) converted to a school, which now contains original blackboards and school desks. The museum also contains information about Ute people, Dillon Reservoir, mining, late 1800s clothing, and photographs.The Frisco Historic Park includes other original Frisco buildings from the late 1800s, including: a log chapel, jail, trapper's cabin and furnished homes.It was deemed significant for NRHP listing as it is the oldest standing schoolhouse in the town, and was the only school from 1902 to 1940.
