Preston is a ghost town in Summit County, Colorado. It is located east of modern Breckenridge, between Jessie mine in Gold Run Gulch and the Jumbo mine.

Summer in Breckenridge attracts outdoor enthusiasts with hiking trails, wildflowers, fly-fishing in the Blue River, mountain biking, nearby Lake Dillon for boating, white water rafting, three alpine slides, a roller coaster, and many shops and restaurants up and down Main Street. The historic buildings along Main Street with their clapboard and log exteriors add to the charm of the town. Since 1981, Breckenridge has hosted the Breckenridge Festival of Film in September, while in January, the town has often been host to a screening of the Backcountry Film Festival. Also held in December is Ullr Fest, a week of festivities celebrating snow and honoring the Norse god Ullr. There are many summertime attractions to enjoy in Breckenridge, most notably the annual Fourth of July parade.

Fort Mary B was the first permanent structure in the Breckenridge, Colorado area. It was a wooden stockade built by the first prospecting party in 1859 due to the presence of Ute people in the area. It was named Fort Mary B for Mary Bigelow, the only woman in the party. The stockade covered a couple of acres and had a log cabin at each corner. The first log cabin was built by Ruben Spalding. The town of Breckenridge was established one mile south of the site, which is near the Wells Fargo Bank.It was first called Fort Independent or Fort Independence. The fort is also said to have been called Fort Breckenridge and Fort Meribeh. The town charter only list two names for the former Breckenridge area: Fort Meribeh and Fort Mary B.

The Swan River is a short tributary of the Blue River, approximately 10 miles (16 km) long, located in the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado in the United States. The river drains a mountainous area in the upper basin of the Blue River in southern Summit County. It rises in three short forks along the continental divide in the Arapaho National Forest east of Breckenridge. It descends through a narrow valley to the west, joining the Blue from the east approximately 5 miles (8 km) north Breckenridge, along State Highway 9 between Breckenridge and Frisco. The valley of the river was historical site of mining camps during the late 19th century, with many remains of early camps and mine tailings remaining along the canyon walls.

Tiger is an extinct town in Summit County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. A post office called Tiger was established in 1919, and remained in operation until 1940. The community took its name from the Royal Tiger Mines Company. The town site was destroyed before 1995 by the Forest Service in order to be used as a snowmobile track.

Summit High School is a high school serving Summit County in the central Rocky Mountains of Colorado, United States. About 1,500 students attend the school from the surrounding mountain towns of Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone and Summit Cove. Summit Middle School, located in Frisco, is the only feeder school for Summit High School. The high school is located 75 miles west of Denver, between Breckenridge and Frisco, near the Farmer's Korner housing subdivision. It sits at an elevation of 9,050' (2,758m). Timothy Ridder serves as the school's principal and Brittny Acres as the assistant principal. Summit High offers AP, IB, DP, and college-level courses through Colorado Mountain College. The high school has a variety of sports offered not limited to but including: rugby, lacrosse, football, basketball, swimming, wrestling and track and field.

Bald Mountain is a high and prominent mountain summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 13,690-foot (4,173 m) thirteener is located in Arapaho National Forest, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) southeast (bearing 135°) of the Town of Breckenridge in Summit County, Colorado, United States.It may be reached by a technically-undemanding though long and roundabout route from Breckenridge, initially through forest and then open country; though as for all mountains of this elevation, altitude sickness is a potential danger as well as afternoon thunderstorms. Extensive views of the surrounding area may be enjoyed from the summit on a clear day.
