Garbutt, New York

Garbuttsville Cemetery is a historic cemetery located at the hamlet of Garbutt in the town of Wheatland in Monroe County, New York. It is one of the earliest surviving cemeteries in Monroe County and is an intact country cemetery that reflects the history of the once thriving industrial hamlet of Garbuttsville (now Garbutt). It also illustrates the development patterns of small vernacular cemeteries through the 19th century and prevalent styles of modest and middle class grave monuments from that period. There are approximately 570 graves with most graves dating prior to 1920.John Garbutt (ca. 1779–1855) is buried in the cemetery. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Donald Mann House is a historic home located at Scottsville, Monroe County, New York. It was built about 1830, and is a two-story, Late Federal stone farmhouse with a 1+1⁄2-story side wing. It has a garage addition and stone porch (now enclosed) added about 1900. Also on the property is a contributing stone outbuilding.: 3 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Wheatland Center is the rural area in the Town of Wheatland surrounding the intersection of Wheatland Center and Scottsville-Mumford Roads. Once known as Hall's Corners, it today shows little evidence of its past.A wallboard plant mentioned in Carl F. Schmidt's 1953 book went out of business as a result of competition. The plant has been expanded and remodeled for use as a metals reclamation center, recovering silver from spent photographic materials.The area on the west side of Wheatland Center Road and between North and Scottsville-Mumford Roads once held houses and businesses. Today, there is nothing there but scrub land on the eastern side of the former gravel pit. The US Census Bureau does not maintain demographic data for Mumford.

Romanta T. Miller House, also known as the Fraser Farm, is a historic home located at Wheatland, Monroe County, New York. It was built in 1869–1870, and is a two-story, Italianate style brick and masonry dwelling. The house has a 1+1⁄2-story rear kitchen addition. It sits on a cut limestone foundation and has an overhanging slate roof. It features a Colonial Revival full height entrance and sleeping porch designed by architect Claude Fayette Bragdon and added in 1914. Also on the property are the contributing large U-shaped barn (c. 1870, 1940) and a small garden shed / machine shop.: 3, 8 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

David McVean House, also known as the McVean-Jones-Reeves House, is a historic home located at Scottsville in Monroe County, New York. It is a brick vernacular Federal-style house on a pargeted cut-stone foundation. The five-by-three-bay main block is two stories in height, while the rear wing is one and one-half stories.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Simeon Sage House is a historic home located at Scottsville in Monroe County, New York. It was built about 1830 and consists of a 1-story, five-by-two-bay, rectangular main block with a smaller 1-story rectangular rear wing in a vernacular Federal style. There are later Greek Revival style modification. It is an example of a working man's cottage. It serves as home to the Wheatland Historical Association and a rectangular, frame educational facility and meeting room were added in 2000.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Scottsville is a village in southwestern Monroe County, New York, United States, and is in the northeastern part of the Town of Wheatland. The population was 2,009 at the 2020 Census. The village is named after an early settler, Isaac Scott. Most Scottsvillians work in and around the city of Rochester—the village of Scottsville is located about a ten-minute drive from the outer limits of the city.

Union Presbyterian Church, also known as First Presbyterian Church of Wheatland, is a historic Presbyterian church located at Scottsville in Monroe County, New York. It is a mid-19th-century vernacular Romanesque Revival–style building. It is composed of a three- by five-bay frame church with a 1+1⁄2-story rear wing that houses classrooms, offices, and kitchen facilities.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Grace Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Scottsville in Monroe County, New York. The church was designed by noted Rochester architect Harvey Ellis (1852-1904) and built in 1885. It is in the Latin cross form in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. It has a native fieldstone lower level with an upper section of frame construction with a non-structural wall of stained glass. It features rounded apsidal and transept ends topped by conical roofs. Attached is a Sunday school wing constructed in 1956 and a square, shingled bell tower added in 1976. It is a congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Scottsville Free Library, located at 28 Main Street in the village of Scottsville, New York, with a small branch at 883 George Street in Mumford, serves the people of the towns of Wheatland and Chili, as well as adjacent areas in Monroe County. Unlike most public libraries, the Scottsville Free Library has always been a private non-profit association. Membership in this association is open to all local residents: one need merely apply for a library card. A board of seven trustees, elected by the association members to three-year terms, provides governance of the association.
