Raeren

The Land of Eupen or Eupen Land (Luxembourgish and German: Eupener Land, French: Pays d'Eupen, Dutch: Land van Eupen), corresponding to the Canton of Eupen (see Cantons of Belgium), is the northern part of the German-speaking Community of Belgium, lying on the border with Germany. Eupen is the capital of this region. To the south lies the Canton of Sankt Vith, which makes up the rest of the German-speaking Community. In the Land of Eupen, the spoken languages are German and the dialect Ripuarian, which is also spoken in the neighbouring part of Germany and a couple of municipalities in Dutch Limburg, like Kerkrade and Vaals.

Eynatten is a village in the Belgian municipality of Raeren, part of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Eynatten is on the border to Germany, 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) south from Aachen. Around half of the population are non-Belgians, most of them Germans. Eynatten is located on route N68 between Aachen, Germany and the German-speaking Belgian town of Eupen. Eupen is around 7.5 kilometres (4.7 miles) to the southwest. Frequent bus services run between Aachen and Eupen, stopping at various places in Eynatten en route.

Hauset is a village in the Belgian municipality of Raeren, part of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. The village is around 260m over Mean Sea Level, along the small river Geul and borders the Forest of Aachen. The population, around 1700 inhabitants, is German-speaking and is about half of German citizens who come from the Aachen region. Hauset is on the border to Germany, close to Aachen. Adjacent Belgian villages are Hergenrath, Walhorn and Eynatten.

100,5 Das Hitradio is a radio station from Eupen, a town in the German speaking part of Belgium. The station is on the air since 1998 and broadcasts under the motto: "Die Super Hits der 80er, der 90er und das Beste von heute" (The Super Hits of the 80s, the 90s, and the Best of Today"). The station is owned by 40.8% by the BRF Medien AG in Eupen, 39.2% by Radio Salü in Saarbrücken, Germany, 10% by PFD Pressefunk GmbH.

The Wurm (German pronunciation: [vʊʁm]; Dutch: Worm [ʋɔr(ə)m]) is a river in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany. It rises in the Eifel mountains and flows for 57 kilometres before discharging into the Rur.

The Aachen Bismarck Tower is one of 173 still-standing towers and columns (of the 240 originally built), which were constructed in the German Empire to commemorate the founder of the German state, Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898).

Aachen Forest (German: Aachener Wald, Aachen dialect Öcher Bösch, Dutch: Akenerbos) lies about 3.7 km south of the city centre of Aachen and has an area of 2,357 ha. It essentially comprises the forest areas of the former free imperial city of Aachen south and west of the formerly independent municipalities of Burtscheid and Forst, as well as north and east of the Belgian border. Apart from a few small plots, it is all in municipal ownership. In July 2003, the Forest of Aachen was awarded the environmental seal of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) on the initiative of Greenpeace, which was extended in 2008 for another five years.

Friesenrath is a small historic village in western Germany, near the spa town Aachen and the tri-border region to Belgium and the Netherlands. Friesenrath is located in the valley of the creek Inde at the edge of the low mountain range Eifel, 11 km southeast of the centre of Aachen. There are several evidences that the village was founded under the rule of the Romans more than one and a half millennium ago. Worth seeing is the chapel St. Bernhard, the castle Friesenrath, the soldiers' monument, a rebuilt drinking water supply with a stone trough and a slaughter site, a milepost and the old school at the center.

Lake Eupen is an artificial lake near Eupen in East Belgium, not far from High Fens. The lake is created by a dam which was built on the river Vesdre in 1938 but inaugurated only in 1950 by Prince Charles of Belgium. The area has a German-speaking population who refer to the river Vesdre as Weser, but which is distinct from the Weser river in North Germany.

Walhorn (German pronunciation: [ˈvalˌhɔʁn]) is a village in the municipality of Lontzen, East Belgium. The HSL 3 passes immediately next to Walhorn.

Petergensfeld is a district of the Belgian municipality of Raeren in the German-speaking community. It is located directly on the German-Belgian border and represents the western continuation of the German village Roetgen. Petergensfeld is located around 18 kilometers southeast of Aachen on the northeastern edge of the High Fens on the river Weser. In addition to the standard German taught in school and used in the community, the traditional regional "Platt" is a Ripuarian dialect.

The Hammer Bridge is a 220 metres (722 ft) long railway bridge on the Weser Valley line crossing the Geul valley a few hundred meters to the south of Hergenrath. Today it is in the German speaking part of Belgium. Before frontier changes mandated in 1919 shifted the frontier between Belgium and Germany approximately 36 km (23 miles) along the railway line in a southerly direction the bridge was in Germany. Back in 1841 when work started on the first railway bridge at this point, it was located in the Rhine Province of Prussia.The bridge was replaced twice, most recently in 1997/99 in order to take the extra weight of the new high-speed train route into which the bridge has now been incorporated.
