The Pałac Goldsteinów or Goldstein Palace is neo-renaissance palace, which was built by two brothers, Abraham and Joseph Goldstein. It is located in Katowice, Silesia, Poland, at the west end of the city centre, at 50°15′33″N 19°0′47″E. The palace is representative for the building style of second part of the 1870s. Front elevations and interior staircases are decorated in typical neo-renaissance ornamentation. The opulent use of marble and sandstone testifies of the owner's wealth. It has two floors. On every floor there are lords’ room, kitchen, bathroom, pantry and two rooms for staff. The Goldstein brothers owned sawmills in multiple cities in Poland, also in Katowice, on the background of palace. After a fire burned down the Katowice sawmill in 1892, the Goldstein brothers, because of heavy losses, switched their main business to Wrocław. The Estate was sold to the firm "Kohlen Produzenten Georg Von Giesches Erben". Before the Second World War, the local Chamber of Commerce was located in the building. From 1952 until 1990, the building housed the Towarzystwo Przyjaźni Polsko-Radzieckiej (Fellowship of Polish-Soviet friendship) and the Przyjaźń (friendship) cinema. From 1960 to 1970 in the basements was a vanguard theater named "12a". There also was a restaurant "Kolumb" in the building, but currently it is undergoing reconstruction to become a Urząd Stanu Cywilnego (Registry Office) in 2007. The owner of the Goldstein Palace is City of Katowice. The architect of the building is unknown, but historians suspect him to be from Berlin.

The Stalexport skyscrapers are twin skyscrapers (Tower A and Tower B) located in Katowice, Silesia, Poland. The buildings share a three-story base. They were designed by Yugoslavian architect Georg Gruićić in the late 1970s and finished in 1981 and 1982, respectively.When built, they were the tallest buildings in Poland, outside the capital, Warsaw. They were designed to accommodate 1800 people. The towers were originally used by the Centre for Foreign Trade.The total floor area is 27,183 m². The buildings are primarily used for office space, and are home to a number of international corporations and financial institution and contain over 700 offices. They are also known for their unique, modern design, which features sharp angles and a facade of steel, glass, and granite. At the time of constitution these buildings were the tallest buildings in Poland.

Drapacz Chmur (English: Skyscraper) is a historical building in Katowice, Silesia, Poland. It was the second skyscraper built in post-World War I Poland. Finished in 1934 after five years of construction, it made pioneering Polish use of steel frame construction. Today, Drapacz Chmur is considered the most spectacular and beautiful example of functionalism in Poland.The building has seventeen stories, fourteen above the ground, and contained one of the first garbage chutes in Poland. It is 60 m tall and until 1955, it was the second highest building in the country (after Prudential, Warsaw). It was designed by architect Tadeusz Kozłowski and structural engineer Stefan Bryła to house Polish Revenue Office employees. The flats are spacious and luxurious. Gustaw Holoubek and Kazimierz Kutz were among the building's notable residents after World War II. Drapacz Chmur is located at 15 Żwirki i Wigury Street.

Galeria Katowicka is a shopping mall in Katowice, Poland. The mall was built in parallel with the modernization of the Katowice railway station and the city bus station, it forms one complex with them.

Katowice railway station is a railway station in Katowice, Silesia, Poland, and the largest railway station in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region. Domestic and international trains connect at the station to most major cities in Europe; these are operated primarily by Polskie Koleje Państwowe. During 1972, Katowice railway station was officially completed, having been built as a replacement station for the city's old terminus, Katowice historic train station. It is located in the centre of Katowice city, and forms of the biggest transport interchanges anywhere in Poland. As built, the railway station was located only a few minutes walk away from the city's main bus station. By the twenty-first century, Katowice railway station was reportedly being used by around 12 million passengers per year. The condition of the building had degraded over the course of 30 years, creating to an impetus for its replacement. During July 2009, it was announced that the Polish government had signed an agreement with the Spanish construction firm Neinver for the latter to build a new integrated transportation hub and commercial center in the middle of Katowice, including the redevelopment of the existing railway station. During May 2010, ground was broken at the site, marking the official commencement of phase one of construction, which was focused on the main station building itself; a temporary building was used to host train services while the original hall was demolished and its replacement built. During phase two of the redevelopment programme, the station's platforms were progressively closed for reconstruction. Later phases of the work involved the construction of the retail, hotel, and other on-site facilities. By late 2012, the new main hall of the railway station and its integrated underground bus station had become operational; during the summer of 2013, the entire complex, including the adjoining Galeria Katowicka mall on Szewczyk Square, was officially completed.

3 Maja Street in Katowice (3 May Street) is a street in the centre of Katowice. The street was built in the 19th century. During World War II the street was called Grundmannstraße, 1867−1922 Grundmannstraße, 1856−1867 Industriestraße. The street starts at the Market Square in Katowice. It passes through the Wawelska Street, Wilhelm Szewczyk Square, Stawowa Street, and Juliusza Słowackiego Street. The street ends at Wolności Square.

Stawowa Street (German: Lazarettstraße, Teichstraße, 1939–1945: Woyrschstraße) is one of the most prominent and well-known pedestrian streets in the Śródmieście district of Katowice, Poland. Its name likely derives from a pond (Polish: staw) that once existed behind Piotr Skarga Street. The street begins at the intersection with Piotr Skarga Street, intersects with Adam Mickiewicz Street (where bus traffic is permitted), and becomes a pedestrian zone thereafter, ending at 3 Maja Street. It serves as a commercial and service-oriented pedestrian passage, recognized as a significant public space with representative and socially integrative functions. In the late 1990s, due to high pedestrian traffic, it was one of the most prominent areas in Katowice's city center. A 2005 study identified it as one of the few central areas perceived as pleasant and well-maintained.

Great Synagogue was the largest synagogue in the city of Katowice (Kattowitz), in southwestern Poland. It was erected in 1900 in what was then the German Empire, and was designed by Max Grünfeld. The synagogue was set on fire by the Nazis in early September 1939 during the invasion of Poland.

Katowice has been classified as a Gamma - global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network and is a centre of commerce, business, transportation, and culture in southern Poland, with numerous public companies headquartered in the city or in its suburbs including energy group Tauron and metal industry corporation Fasing, important cultural institutions such as Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, award-winning music festivals such as Off Festival and Tauron New Music, and transportation infrastructure such as Katowice Korfanty Airport. It also hosts the finals of Intel Extreme Masters, an Esports video game tournament. Katowice is also home to several institutions of higher learning, notably the University of Silesia, the Silesian University of Technology and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music.

Młyńska Street in Katowice (until 1922, and from 1939 to 1945, Mühlstraße) is one of the oldest streets in the Śródmieście district of Katowice. It begins at Market Square, intersects with Wawelska Street, and ends at the junction with Dworcowa Street near Wilhelm Szewczyk Square and the Katowice railway station. The street's name derives from 1860, when Louis Fiedler, Max Glaser, and Julius Feige constructed and operated steam mills there. Grain warehouses were also built along the street.

Silesia City Center is a shopping mall in Katowice, Silesia, Poland. It was opened in 2005 as the first modern shopping mall in Katowice. In 2015 it has been described as the "largest shopping mall in the Silesia region".Its total area covers a few thousand square metres, of which 650 000 sq metres is a trade zone, 100 000 sq metres is a housing estate and 600 000 sq metres is an office site. It is situated in Katowice along 107 Chorzowska Road (the land previously belonged to the coal mine KWK Gottwald). The edifice was opened 18 November 2005. An investor is Hungarian company - TriGranit Development Corporation.
