Skanstull is an area in Södermalm in Stockholm. Skanstull connects the traffic between the inner city and the south parts of Stockholm and its suburbs. Skanstull was originally the city's southern toll station, but the toll station was removed in 1857. Skanstull served as an execution site in the 17th century. It is the birthplace of Swedish artist Bladee. The Skanstull metro station was opened in 1950.

Skanstull, formerly known as Ringvägen, is a station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. It is situated in the district of Södermalm in central Stockholm, at the intersection of Ringvägen and Götgatan. The station has a single island platform, which is about 5 metres (16 ft) below the street, and has two ticket halls, with access from the junctions of Götgatan with Ringvägen and Allhelgonagatan. The distance to Slussen is 1.2 km (0.75 mi).Skanstull is, along with Medborgarplatsen, the oldest underground station on the metro, actually predating that system by some years. The station lies in the Södertunneln, a tunnel originally built in 1933 for use by routes 8 and 19 of the Stockholm tramway. On 1 October 1950, it became part of Stockholm's first metro line when the Södertunneln was adapted to become part of the line from Slussen south to Hökarängen, and the station was remodelled to full metro standard. Originally known as Ringvägen, the station took its current name when it reopened as part of the metro. The entrance at Allhelgonagatan was opened on 21 November 1957, the station was rebuilt in 2003–2004, and the platform was upgraded in 2009.

Johanneshovsbron (Swedish: "The Johanneshov Bridge") is a 756 metres long and 17,9 metres wide road bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Overpassing two older bridges, Skansbron and Skanstullsbron, and one newer bridge, Fredriksdalsbron, it connects Södermalm and the tunnel passing under it, Söderledstunneln, to Johanneshov, the district immediately south of the historical city centre, and national road 73, leading out of the city. Brought about by the construction of the tunnel, Johanneshovsbron forms part of one of the major roads passing through the central city, extending north over Centralbron. Running south form the mouth of Söderledstunneln to the west of Skanstull, the bridge runs uphill and somewhat in parallel to Skanstullsbron for some 500 metres before it turns east to pass over its neighbour, between which ramps it finally extends into road 37 underneath the roundabout at Johanneshov.The bridge is made of prestressed concrete, has an average span of 51 metres (max 55,7 metres), and was inaugurated on 9 October 1984.

Skansbron (Swedish: "The Fortlet Bridge") is a bascule bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over the canal Hammarbykanalen, it connects the major island Södermalm to the southern mainland district Södra Hammarbyhamnen. Before the lake Hammarbysjön was transformed into a canal in the 1920s, Skanstull, the southern tollgate of the city, was surrounded by fortifications, including a moat over which a simple wooden bridge led into the city.In 1914, the City Council had determined the double traffic load at Slussen, caused by west-east going ships and north-south bound vehicles, would be solved by rerouting the ships south of Södermalm through a canal to be built.Delayed by World War I, the works were finally begun in 1923, and by 1925 a double leaf steel drawbridge was completed. The bridge is 14.9 metres wide with a 10.7-metre wide roadway, and has a horizontal clearance of 12.5 metres.During the construction of the bridge, the north–south traffic flow was confined to a temporary 98-metre long wooden viaduct with a central main span 32.5 metres long and pipes for water, electricity, gas, and sewer underlying the roadway.

Folksamhuset (Swedish for "Folksam Building") is a high-rise office building at Skanstull on Södermalm, Stockholm and was erected in 1959 as the head office for the insurance company Folksam. Designed by Nils Einar Eriksson, Folksamhuset is 79 metres (259 ft) and 23 stories tall, making it the ninth-tallest building in Sweden. The building, located on the southern toll of the historical city centre, was created as a vertical accent intended to counterbalance the large scale traffic routes and bridges passing in front of it: Skansbron, Skanstullsbron, and Johanneshovsbron. As one of the components in this urban superstructure, it also serves as a landmark underlining the main southern approach to Stockholm, together with other large-scale structures such as the Globe Arena, Skatteskrapan, and Söder Torn. The façades of the building are dressed up in blasted slabs of light grey marble, referred to as Ekebergsmarmor in Sweden. At the base of the building is a terrace with green areas. The interior office-spaces, the design of Yngve Tegnér, were inspired by large-scale industrial production.

Skanstullsbron (Swedish: "The Fortlet Tollgate Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Overpassing the older bridge Skansbron, it connects the major island Södermalm to the southern district Johanneshov. The first proposal for an elevated bridge stretching over the canal Hammarbykanalen was produced in 1921, before work on the lower Skansbron bridge began in 1923. It remained the favoured bridge design to solve the increasing traffic load of the area during the 1920s and 1930s and was approved by the city council in 1939. World War II led to shortage of both finance and material, but work was started in 1944 and the new bridge was inaugurated in 1947.Skanstullsbron is a concrete double viaduct, with one bridge for vehicles and pedestrians and the other for the metro. Its total length is 574 metres of which 403 metres consists of the 16 spans of the southern beam bridge. The three central spans, 118, 112, and 106 metres long, offer a maximum horizontal clearance of 32 metres and a panoramic view of the surrounding city.

The International School of the Stockholm Region (ISSR) is a school in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located on Bohusgatan in Skanstull on the island of Södermalm. The school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and is an IB World School and a UN School.

Fredriksdalsbron is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Serving the light rail line Tvärbanan, it stretches north from the station west of the Gullmarsplan metro station, immediately makes a sharp eastward turn to plunge under two other bridges, Skanstullsbron and Johanneshovsbron, to continue eastward over a viaduct leading down to the station Mårtensdal in the newly built suburb Hammarby sjöstad. During the planning process the project name "Kvarnbron" (Mill Bridge) was used. The bridge was built by Nordic Construction Company (NCC) in 2000–2002 as the first part of an extension of the light rail. 379 metres in length, it rests on 15 pillars of which 2 are anchored into the bedrock while the others are steel point-bearing piles. The bridge deck is formed as a non-tensioned reinforced concrete tray rounded underneath. Abutments and revetments are dressed in slate. The maximum span is 30 metres, and the width varies from 9.4 to 11.4 metres. The longest pillar is slightly more than 20 metres, resting on a foundation mainly composed by poles up to 35 metres in length.

Boulevardteatern (Boulevard Theatre) is a theatre in the district of Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden.

Helgalund, Helgalunden, or Tjurberget, is a neighbourhood on the island Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden. The picturesque area was designed by architect and city planner Per Olof Hallman, c. 1930. The neighbourhood is located on the hill Tjurberget with parks in the north and south. At the centre of Helgalund is Allhelgonakyrkan, the "Church of all saints," in the grove Helgalunden, from which the area takes its name. The eight groves of Rosenlundsparken, Tjurbergsgatan, Blekingegatan, Götgatan, Dalslandsgatan, Tjurberget, Assesorsgatan, and Grindsgatan roughly make up the borders of the area.

Skatteskrapan ("The Tax Scraper") is a 26-storey, 86 m (282 ft) building in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located at Götgatan 76 in the district of Södermalm, in a block named Gamen (The Vulture). With an initial height of 81 metres and 25 floors, it was the tallest building in Sweden from its completion in 1959 to 1964 when it was surpassed by the 84 metres tall Dagens Nyheter Tower. The building was designed by architect Paul Hedqvist for the Swedish National Tax Board (hence its name). It served as the office of the Tax Board until 2003, when it was decided under then Mayor of Stockholm Annika Billström that the building be rebuilt internally to turn it into student apartments. Svenska Bostäder took over ownership of the building from its former host Vasakronan on 29 December 2003. In 2008 the building was bought by AP Fastigheter which soon merged with Vasakronan. The building is protected as a cultural landmark by the City of Stockholm, which means it can't be rebuilt externally. The skyscraper, as rebuilt by Skanska, now has 415 student apartments as well as office and conference space on the top floors. Connecting with the rebuilt building, another seven-floor building was built on a side with 61 student apartments and 19 general rental apartments. On the first and second floors of the skyscraper, and in the side building, there is now space used for shops and restaurants. The official name of the new building complex is Skrapan (The Scraper). In the rebuilding process a new floor with a skybar was added at the top, increasing the floor count to 26.

Gullmarsplan (pronunciation) is a place in Johanneshov, Stockholm. The square there was built at the same time the new city area was developed in the 1940s. The business area around the square was inaugurated in 1946. It was named after Gullmarn, a fjord in the province of Bohuslän, at Lysekil. The Skanstullsbron (Skanstull bridge) and Johanneshovsbron (Johanneshov bridge) connect Gullmarsplan by road with Södermalm, a part of the city center. Beneath Gullmarsplan, the road tunnel Södra länken runs in an east-west direction. Just south of Gullmarsplan is the Söderstadion football stadium as well as the Avicii Arena (Globen).
