Wilmont is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in far western Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of South Washington Heights on the north, Cherry Hill on the south, Shenandoah West on the east and Ridgewood Park on the west.

Belle Aire is a Greek Revival mansion listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register in the Greater Deyerle neighborhood of the independent city of Roanoke, Virginia, U.S.A. Located just south of Brandon Avenue SW (U.S. 11) at 3820 Belle Aire Circle SW, Belle Aire was completed in 1849, as the private residence of Madison and Margeret Pitzer on a knoll overlooking their 1,600 acres (2.500 sq mi; 6.475 km2) of land adjacent to the Roanoke River. It is located approximately one-half mile from his brother Jeramiah's house (Mount Airy). Today the home still stands, with the surrounding area now developed as single family home typical of those built during the 1970s-80s.

Ridgewood Park is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in far western Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of Edgewood-Summit Hills on the north, Cherry Hill on the south and Wilmont on the east. The western border is shared with the city of Salem.

South Washington Heights is a neighborhood in Roanoke, Virginia, located in far western Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of Washington Heights and Villa Heights on the north, Wilmont on the south, Shenandoah West on the east and Edgewood-Summit Hills on the west. The neighborhood fronts U.S. Highway 460 (Melrose Avenue) along its entire northern boundary.

Edgewood-Summit Hills is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in far western Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of Peachtree/Norwood on the north, Ridgewood Park on the south and South Washington Heights on the east. The western border is shared with the city of Salem and Roanoke County.

WLRX (106.1 FM) and WAWX (101.7 FM) are FM radio stations owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF). WLRX is licensed to Vinton, Virginia, serving the Roanoke metropolitan area. WAWX is licensed to Lynchburg, Virginia, serving the Lynchburg metropolitan area. WLRX plays a Contemporary Christian radio format from the "K-Love" national network, while WAWX airs a Contemporary Worship format as a network affiliate of "Air1."Both stations are licensed for commercial operation. But K-Love and Air1 are listener-supported and run no commercials. In addition, EMF owns 106.9 WLGX in nearby Bedford, Virginia. WLGX also carries K-Love programming.

The English Gardens Apartments is a historic complex of apartment buildings located in Roanoke, Virginia. The complex was designed by the Richmond-based architect E. Tucker Carlton, and was built in two phases. The first, completed in 1947, consists of nine building of three stories each, while the second, finished in 1950, consists of eight buildings of two stories each. The complex was designed in the Colonial Revival style, and all buildings are constructed of concrete blocks fronted with brick. The English Gardens was designed as a garden apartment complex, arranged to create courtyards between the buildings in order to maximize green space and ventilation. The Federal Housing Administration provided financing for the project, which was aimed primarily at middle-class World War II veterans and their families. The complex was listed to the National Register of Historic Places in 2022, and as of 2023 was in the process of reopening after a renovation.

The University of Fairfax is an institution of higher education headquartered in Salem, Virginia. It offers online graduate degrees (Masters and Doctorates) in cybersecurity, cloud computing, computer science and engineering, and business as well as several graduate certificates. The entire program is provided via instructor led conference calls and online instruction. The Certification Training Center for Continuing Professional Education was established to support the continuing professional education needs of students and alumni. Through this center, the University provides support by co-sponsoring information security certification training and provides complimentary online tools to aid in preparing for the CISSP and CISM certification exam. Partnership with Cyber Security Forum Initiative in 2014 enabled professionals to receive graduate credit towards a Master of Science in Information Assurance or doctoral degree in cybersecurity. University of Fairfax is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), an accrediting commission recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Greater Deyerle is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in extreme southwest Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of Raleigh Court on the east, Cherry Hill on the north, the city of Salem on the west and Roanoke County on the south. Greater Deyerle is geographically the most western area of the city of Roanoke.Annexed from Roanoke County in 1976 to connect to the city's water/sewer service, the neighborhood is predominantly residential with commercial developments located at its edges. Although the majority of its development has occurred post World War II, both the historic Belle Aire and Lone Oaks estates are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Because these two 19th century estates were constructed by Benjamin Deyerle, the neighborhood is named after him.

Washington Heights is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in northwest Roanoke, bound to the west by Virginia State Route 117. It borders the neighborhoods of Peachtree/Norwood on the west, South Washington Heights on the south, Villa Heights on the east and Westview Terrace on the north. The neighborhood sees both a mix of residential development throughout its area spanning a more traditional grid street network in addition to more typical suburban ranch style construction.

Shenandoah West is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in west Roanoke south of U.S. 460 (Melrose Avenue). It borders the neighborhoods of South Washington Heights, Wilmont and Cherry Hill on the west, Loudon-Melrose on the east, Villa Heights on the north and Hurt Park on the south opposite the Norfolk Southern rail yard.
