Kropia

Koropi (Greek: Κορωπί, Greek pronunciation: [ko.ro.ˈpi]) is a suburban town in East Attica, Greece. It is the seat of the municipality Kropia. It has been home to the new training facilities of Panathinaikos football club since the summer of 2013.

Upper Lamptrai, or Lamptrai Kathyperthen (Ancient Greek: Λαμπτραὶ καθύπερθεν) or Lamptra Kathyperthen (Λάμπτρα καθύπερθεν), was a deme of ancient Attica. Lamptrai Kathyperthen and nearby Coastal Lamptrai (Lamptrai Paraloi) were between Anagyrus, Thorae, and Aegilia. At Lamptra the grave of Cranaus was shown.The site of Upper Lamptrai was near modern Lambrika.

Koropi (Greek: Κορωπί) is an Athens Metro and Suburban Railway station situated at east of the town of Koropi, East Attica in Athens metropolitan area. located in the median strip of the Attiki Odos motorway. It opened to Athens Suburban Railway trains on 30 July 2004, with Athens Metro services calling at this station from 10 July 2006.The station's platforms have two levels, with each end serving trains from the Athens Metro or the Suburban Railway: Suburban Railway trains stop at the northern end. In contrast, Athens Metro Line 3 trains stop at the southern end. As of 2022 the station is served by two Suburban Railway and two Metro trains per hour to the airport, one Suburban Railway train to Ano Liosia and one to Pireaus, and one or two Metro trains to Nikaia.

Sphettus or Sphettos (Ancient Greek: Σφηττός) was one of the twelve cities of ancient Attica, and subsequently a deme. That it was situated either in the Mesogaea or the Paralia is certain from the legend, that Pallas, who had obtained these districts, marched upon Athens from Sphettus by the Sphettian Way. There are good reasons for believing that Pallas must have marched round the northern extremity of Hymettus; and consequently the Sphettian road must have taken that course. The site of Sphettus has been located northwest of Koropi below Christos chapel.

The Paiania training ground is a training ground and academy base, previously used by the Greek football club Panathinaikos FC. It was officially opened on June 19, 1981.Located in Paiania and covering 70 acres it is used since 1981.

Georgios Kalafatis Sports Center is the training ground and academy base of the Greek football club Panathinaikos since 2013. In 2013, Giannis Alafouzos, president of Panathinaikos FC, decided the move of the club from the previous training center of Paiania to a new one, owned by the team. The ground was bought by the previous owner, Panionios F.C., and was named "Georgios Kalafatis" in honour of the founder of Panathinaikos.Since then, it has been a gradual upgrade of the facilities.

Cicynna or Kikynna (Ancient Greek: Κίκυννα) was a deme of ancient Attica of the phyle of Acamantis, sending two or three delegates to the Athenian Boule.It was the native deme of Strepsiades, the protagonist in Aristophanes' The Clouds. Representing the generality of the deme, Aristophanes depicts this character as a prosperous farmer and attentive to his lazy son. Probably Cicynna had his own diasia, the most important festival to Zeus in Attica, in which the god was honored as Zeus Meilichius: this is evident from a passage from the aforementioned comedy by Aristophanes. The party was held on the 23rd of Anthesterion (around the beginning of March); the richest people offered sacrifices, and the poorest burned incense. Its site is tentatively located near modern Chalidou.

The Markopoulo Olympic Shooting Centre was the site of the shooting events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. The venue is located in Markópoulo, on the outskirts of the eastern suburbs of Athens. It has a seating capacity of 4,000, though a public capacity of only 2,330 for the Olympics. The venue was completed in March, 2004 and officially opened on August 2, 2004, shortly before the beginning of the Olympics. The facility is now in the process of being converted to the official shooting range and training center of the Hellenic Police.

Paiania (Greek: Παιανία, Greek pronunciation: [pe.a.ˈni.a], before 1915: Λιόπεσι - Liopesi, pronounced [ˈʎo.pe.si]; Arvanitika: Λοπε̱σ romanized: Lopës) is a town and a municipality in East Attica, Greece. It is an eastern suburb of Athens, located east of Mount Hymettus. It is 11 km east of Athens city centre. Paiania is home to the Vorres Museum of Folk and Contemporary Art, the Foundation European Art Center (EUARCE) of Greece. the broadcasting facilities of Greek television station Oren TV and the former training facilities of football club Panathinaikos FC. Greek National Road 89 passes through the town, Motorway 6 passes east of it. The town was renamed to reflect association with the ancient deme of Paeania.

Mihalis Filopoulos (Greek: Μιχάλης Φιλόπουλος; 1985–2007) was a 22-year-old Panathinaikos fan who was stabbed to death on March 29, 2007, at Paiania, a town near Athens, Greece, during a pre-arranged clash with rival hooligans of Olympiakos. His death caused major upset in Greece and sparked a large police investigation into the organised supporters' scene.

The Vorres Museum is a diachronic museum of folk and contemporary art in Paiania, Athens, Greece. Its grounds cover 80 acres (320,000 m2) including several buildings, gardens and courtyards. Its collection includes over 6000 pieces covering 4000 years of Greek history and art. The museum has been donated by the Vorres family to the Greek state. Its President and Founder was Greek philanthropist Ian Vorres (1924 - 2015), who studied art in Canada at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario and the University of Toronto. While there he met HIH Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna,(the sister of Russia's last Czar Nicholas II) who asked him to write her biography, which was published in 1962 as The Last Grand Duchess.

Lower Paeania or Paiania Hypenerthen (Ancient Greek: Παιανία ὑπένερθεν) was a deme of ancient Attica; it was located on the eastern side of Hymettus. One of two demoi named Paeania. The site of Lower Paeania is located on the eastern outskirts of modern Liopesi.
