Bourton-on-the-Water is a village and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England, that lies on a wide flat vale within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village had a population of 3,296 at the 2011 census. Much of the village centre is a designated Conservation Area.

The Cotswold School is an 11 to 18 academy school located in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, Great Britain. The school achieved academy status in September 2010. The principal from 2012 is Mr Will Morgan. The school roll in 2016 sits at 1320 (with approximately 250 of those students in The Cotswold School's sixth form). In 2012 the Secretary of State for Education recognised, in a formal letter to the school, the consistent improvement in GCSE results. In November 2015 The Sunday Times ranked The Cotswold School 12th in the Top 20 Comprehensive Schools in England and Wales for both A Level and GCSE, subsequently naming it their ‘Comprehensive School of the Year 2015/16’. In August 2016, 36% of examinations at A-Level were awarded A* or A and 88% were awarded grades at A*-C. The Cotswold Sixth Form was ranked 1st amongst comprehensives in Gloucestershire and 19th in the country in published league tables (Daily Telegraph, Aug 2016). Meanwhile, 92% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE and 52% of students achieved the EBacc.

Bourton-on-the-Water model village is a scale model village in the grounds of the Old New Inn in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England. One of the first model villages in the country, it was started in 1936 and completed in 1940. The model represents the core of Bourton-on-the-Water as it appeared in 1936 in 1:9 scale. The model village contains around 100 buildings. It is open to the public and includes exhibitions of other models on smaller scales.

Birdland Park and Gardens, often called Birdland, is a wildlife park in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England. First opened in 1957, the park moved to its current site in 1989. Birdland began in the 5-acre (2.0 ha) grounds of a Tudor manor house called Chardwar and was started by Len Hill, who was often referred to as the Penguin Millionaire.

Bourton-on-the-Water railway station was a Gloucestershire railway station on the Great Western Railway's Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway which opened in 1881 and closed in 1964.

Bourton Rovers Football Club is a football club based in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England. Affiliated to the Gloucestershire County Football Association, The club are currently members of the Hellenic Football League and play at Rissington Road. Their nickname is the Rovers.

Salmonsbury Meadows (grid reference SP178213) is an 18-hectare (44-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1985. The site is listed in the 'Cotswold District' Local Plan 2001-2011 (on line) as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).The site is owned and managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, and is part of its Greystones Farm nature reserve (grid reference SP173209). The reserves lie to the east of Bourton-on-the-Water, which is in the Cotswolds. The site, which includes the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), was bought in three phases over four years. Salmonsbury Meadows were purchased first in 1999. This was followed in 2000 by the Restoration area, which is a 15.9-hectare (39-acre) area of improved grassland adjacent to the SSSI. The third part acquired in 2002 secured the whole farm. This final acquisition included Salmonsbury Camp (ramparts are visible), which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The nature reserve is a 66-hectare (160-acre) site. The River Eye runs through the meadows and the River Dikler forms the eastern boundary. There is a network of public footpaths and the long-distance Oxfordshire Way crosses the farm.There is fuller history of Greystones Farm, its meadows and Salmonsbury Camp in a publication produced by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. The River Eye is a short river in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire which flows for 7.6 kilometres (4.7 mi) through the villages of Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter. The river is home to brown trout.

The River Dikler is a short river in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire which flows for 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) through Upper Swell and to the west of Stow on the Wold. It flows into the River Windrush, a tributary of the River Thames, just to the east of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Clapton, also known as Clapton-on-the-Hill, is a small village and civil parish in the district of Cotswold, in the county of Gloucestershire, England. As of 2019, it has a population of 110.

Lower Slaughter is a village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south west of Stow-on-the-Wold. The village is built on both banks of the River Eye, a slow-moving stream crossed by two footbridges, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. At the west end of the village there is a 19th-century water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. There is a ford where the river widens in the village and several small stone footbridges join the two sides of the community. While the mill is built of red brick most of the 16th and 17th century homes in the village use Cotswold limestone and are adorned with mullioned windows and often with other embellishments such as projecting gables. The name of the village derives form the Old English term "slough" meaning "wet land".

Upper Slaughter is a village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south west of Stow-on-the-Wold. Nearby places include Lower Slaughter, Bourton-on-the-Water and Daylesford. The village is built on both banks of the River Eye. The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St. Peter.Upper Slaughter was one of the Thankful Villages, amongst the small number in England which lost no men in World War I. The village also lost no men in World War II, an honour known as a Doubly Thankful Village. The parliamentary constituency is represented by Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP.
