Gouin is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of the province of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of part of the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough of Montreal. The riding covers the neighbourhoods of La Petite-Patrie and Parc Molson, plus a small part of Vieux-Rosemont. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of Montréal-Laurier and Montréal–Jeanne-Mance. Its territory was unchanged during the switch from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map. It is named after former Quebec Premier, Lomer Gouin, who was in power from 1905 to 1920.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park (French: Parc Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier) is an urban park in the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is bordered by Laurier Avenue East to the south, De Brébeuf Street to the east, Saint Grégoire Street to the north and De Mentana Street to the west. It is crossed by a north–south bicycle path. The path enters the park at Brébeuf Street (corner Laurier) in the south and ends on Christophe Colomb Avenue (corner Saint Grégoire) in the north. The park's area is 10.8 hectares (27 acres). It was named in honor of The Right Honourable Sir Wilfrid Laurier on May 29, 1925. Laurier served as Canada's seventh Prime Minister, from 11 July 1896 to 6 October 1911. The park contains a soccer field, two baseball fields, a public swimming pool, a horseshoes sandbox, a pétanque terrain and a dog park. In the western part of the park, there is a playground with slides, swings and a sandbox for children. The Laurier Centre, located in the heart of the park, is the location of community activities. In winter, it is used as a cottage for skaters.

CHRF (980 kHz) was a French language commercial AM radio station in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Owned by Evanov Radio Group, the station broadcast an adult standards radio format, along with some multicultural programming. CHRF's studios were located on Papineau Avenue in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough of Montreal, while its transmitter is located near Mercier.

CINQ-FM is a multilingual Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec. It broadcasts on 102.3 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 1,285 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 2,335 watts (class A). Its studios are located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal. The station operates under a community radio licence and offers varied programming in seven different languages whereas all programmes are produced and animated by volunteers. It identifies itself as "Radio Centre-Ville". CINQ-FM opened on 27 January 1975; at the time the station was on 99.3 MHz and used only 7.5 watts of power. Originally, the station aired programming in five different languages, hence the call sign ("cinq" being the French word for "five"). Those five languages were English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Greek. It has since added Arabic and Haitian Creole programming to its lineup.

Saint-Jean-Berchmans Church (French: Église Saint-Jean-Berchmans) is a Roman Catholic church in the Petite-Patrie neighbourhood of the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located on Rosemont Boulevard, east of Papineau Avenue.

Saint Joseph Boulevard (official in French: boulevard Saint-Joseph) is a major boulevard located east of Mount Royal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Although it is mainly residential, it is a major east–west artery in the Plateau Mont-Royal and the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie boroughs. Its intersection with D'Iberville Street is known as the infamous Tunnel de la mort (Death Tunnel).

Laurier Avenue (officially in French: Avenue Laurier) is a commercial and residential street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It crosses the boroughs of Outremont, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal and Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. It is known for its cafés, restaurants and specialty stores, especially near Park Avenue and east of Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park. The largest concentration of shops on Laurier Avenue are located between Clark Street and Querbes Avenue. These are mainly upscale decorating and children's clothing stores, as well as restaurants and cafes. Laurier Station, on the Montreal Metro's Orange Line, is located at the intersection of Laurier Avenue and Berri Street.

The École supérieure de ballet de Montréal (ESBQ) is a professional dance training school in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which is part of the Maison de la danse Ludmilla Chiriaeff, a building that it has owned since 1982 and which is also home to the dance company Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. The school is located in central Montreal in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, a few yards from the Laurier subway station. It is the only institution in Quebec to offer a complete professional training program in contemporary dance. Montreal is home to more than 30 professional dance companies, with more than 200 dance performances presented every year in some 20 different theatres and performance spaces.

The Peck Building is a repurposed textile factory in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Completed in 1904, the five-story brick building initially housed John W. Peck & Co., Montreal's second-largest clothing manufacturer at the time. The company oversaw the Peck's expansion, completed in 1913, and remained the sole occupant of the building until it was subdivided in the 1930s. Textile manufacturing remained the main practice amongst its tenants until the 1990s, when globalization drove out the industry from the city. The workshops were gradually repurposed. The animation software designer Discreet Logic occupied the top floor between 1993 and 1997, during which time it produced technology for blockbuster films like Titanic. When it moved out, the French gaming company Ubisoft took over the space for its recently opened Montreal branch. Ubisoft Montreal, becoming the largest video game studio in the world by workforce, rapidly grew into occupying the entire building. The presence of the Peck Building in the heart of the Mile End, at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Rue Saint-Viateur, played a major role in the development of the neighbourhood. With John W. Peck & Co. and Ubisoft Montreal, it has twice housed the largest employer in the Mile End over the span of more than a century.

The Gargantua bar attack was a shooting and arson-attack that occurred at the Gargantua, a nightclub bar located on 1369 rue Beaubien Est in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on January 21, 1975, killing 13 individuals, including the manager. The Gargantua, which had been known for being a meeting place for underworld figures, was previously the scene of a double-shooting killing of two criminals in October 1974. During the attack, the Gargantua's manager, believed to having been a witness to the preceding shooting, was shot and killed. The remaining 12 individuals succumbed to asphyxiation after being herded into a padlocked closet shortly before the establishment was set on fire. Three days following the attack, criminal Richard Blass, the primary suspect, was shot and killed by police.
