Laurier Avenue (Montreal)

Saint Joseph Boulevard (official in French: boulevard Saint-Joseph) is a major boulevard located east of Mount Royal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Although it is mainly residential, it is a major east–west artery in the Plateau Mont-Royal and the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie boroughs. Its intersection with D'Iberville Street is known as the infamous Tunnel de la mort (Death Tunnel).

The École supérieure de ballet de Montréal (ESBQ) is a professional dance training school in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which is part of the Maison de la danse Ludmilla Chiriaeff, a building that it has owned since 1982 and which is also home to the dance company Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. The school is located in central Montreal in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, a few yards from the Laurier subway station. It is the only institution in Quebec to offer a complete professional training program in contemporary dance. Montreal is home to more than 30 professional dance companies, with more than 200 dance performances presented every year in some 20 different theatres and performance spaces.

The Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal (CMQM) is a music conservatory located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In addition to the Montreal region, the school takes in students from nearby cities, including Granby, Joliette, St-Jean, Saint-Jérôme, Sherbrooke, and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The school is the first of nine conservatories in Quebec which form the Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec (CMADQ). The current director is Manon Lafrance. In addition to practice rooms, classrooms and rehearsal halls, the conservatory contains 85 teaching studios, a 225-seat theater, a concert hall of 225 seats, a recital hall with 100 places, and a large music multimedia center with a recording studio. The conservatoire is also home to a substantial musical library.

The Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal is a Canadian government-funded dramatic school founded in 1954. The first director was Jan Doat. He was succeeded by Jean Valcourt in 1955 on the condition that a branch also be opened in Québec. The Québec branch opened in 1958.The school is now a branch of the Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park (French: Parc Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier) is an urban park in the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is bordered by Laurier Avenue East to the south, De Brébeuf Street to the east, Saint Grégoire Street to the north and De Mentana Street to the west. It is crossed by a north–south bicycle path. The path enters the park at Brébeuf Street (corner Laurier) in the south and ends on Christophe Colomb Avenue (corner Saint Grégoire) in the north. The park's area is 10.8 hectares (27 acres). It was named in honor of The Right Honourable Sir Wilfrid Laurier on May 29, 1925. Laurier served as Canada's seventh Prime Minister, from 11 July 1896 to 6 October 1911. The park contains a soccer field, two baseball fields, a public swimming pool, a horseshoes sandbox, a pétanque terrain and a dog park. In the western part of the park, there is a playground with slides, swings and a sandbox for children. The Laurier Centre, located in the heart of the park, is the location of community activities. In winter, it is used as a cottage for skaters.

La Binerie Mont-Royal is a lunch counter-style restaurant in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, specializing in traditional Quebec cuisine, including its signature baked beans.Founded in 1938 by Léonide Lussier, the restaurant was the setting of Yves Beauchemin's novel and film The Alley Cat (Le Matou), which was filmed on location. The business was purchased by new owners Jocelyne and Philippe Brunet in 2005, but largely remains unchanged. In addition to its trademark beans, the restaurant serves such traditional fare as tourtières, Pâté chinois, pouding chômeur, pea soup and spruce beer.The restaurant is located on Mount Royal Avenue, in the city's Plateau Mont-Royal borough.

Casa del Popolo is a bar, bistro, and music venue in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Saint Laurent Boulevard in the borough of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal. Its name is Italian for "House of the People". It was established in September 2000 by Mauro Pezzente and his partner Kiva Stimac. Since then, the Casa has hosted performances by Arcade Fire, Buck 65, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Do Make Say Think, Moldy Peaches, Carla Bozulich, and many more. The Casa has also hosted non-musical performances, including slideshows by Seth and book launches by Jonathan Goldstein.Fodor's describes Casa del Popolo as "one of (Montreal's) top venues for indie rock music", and Frommer's has compared it to CBGB.

Mount Royal Avenue (officially in French: avenue du Mont-Royal), once named Tannery Road (French: chemin des Tanneries), is a street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The main part of the street transects the borough of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, from Park Avenue at the foot of Mount Royal, for which the road is named, to Frontenac St. Another section in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie runs from Molson St. to Pie-IX Boulevard. West of Park Avenue, the road continues into Outremont (where it becomes Mount Royal Boulevard), skirting the northern rim of the mountain until Vincent d'Indy Avenue. The western section of the avenue is the principal artery of the Plateau, forming the southern border of the Mile End neighbourhood. Notable businesses on the street include La Binerie Mont-Royal and Beauty's. The Mont-Royal metro station is located at the corner of Mount Royal Ave. and Rivard St., at Place Gérald-Godin.
