Benowa is a suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census Benowa had a population of 8,741 people.

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, formerly known as the Rosser Park Regional Botanic Gardens, and before that simply Rosser Park, are located on Ashmore Road, Benowa, Gold Coast, Australia. Its baseball facilities are home to the Surfers Paradise Baseball Club, current premiers of the Greater Brisbane League. It has hosted many high-profile Australian baseball events such as the Masters Games and University Games. The adjacent oval is home to the Surfers Paradise-Benowa Cricket Club and Surfers Paradise Australian Football Club, which plays in the QAFL. It is named after former Gold Coast mayor Sir Bruce Small.

The RACV Gold Coast Challenge was a golf tournament played in Australia. It was one of the leading tournaments on the ALPG Tour and was co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) since 2001. Between 1997 and 2000 it was an event on the LPGA Tour. It has been played at the RACV Royal Pines Resort in Benowa, Queensland, a suburb of Gold Coast since 1992. In 2007 the Masters was the richest women's golf tournament in Australia, with a prize fund of A$800,000. Although the 2008 prize fund dropped to A$600,000, the tournament remained the richest in Australia. The 144 strong 2015 field consisted of 50 ALPG players, 50 LET players, 10 LPGA of Korea Tour players, 5 China Ladies Professional Golf Association players, 3 leading players from the Women's World Golf Rankings and sponsor's invitees.The tournament was founded in 1990 as a 54-hole stroke play event, and was originally called the Australian Ladies Masters. It expanded to 72 holes in 1994. Australia's most successful women golfer Karrie Webb won the event a record eight times.

It was the 11th edition of the Brisbane International, and was a Tier III event on the 2007 WTA Tour. It took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 31 December 2006 through 6 January 2007. Second-seeded Dinara Safina won the singles title and earned $25,840 first-prize money.

The 2008 Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 12th and final edition of the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts, which was renamed and relocated to Brisbane, and was part of the Tier III Series of the 2008 WTA Tour. It took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 31 December 2007 through 5 January 2008. Unseeded Li Na won the singles title and earned $28,000 first-prize money. This was the last edition of the tournament in Gold Coast, Queensland. In 2009 the women's tournament was merged with the men's tournament and became the Brisbane International.
