Haverton Hill

Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd. is a marine offshore structure foundation manufacture based at Haverton Hill near Billingham on the north bank of the River Tees. The company was formed as a joint venture between Bladt Industries and EEW at the factory established by TAG Energy Solutions. The factory was used briefly in the late 2000s by Tees Alliance Group for a prematurely terminated contract to manufacture oil rig substructures. The works is based on the site of the Haverton Hill shipyard, initially operating as the Furness Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., established 1918. Shipbuilding at the yard ended in 1979.

Teesside Energy from Waste plant (also known as Teesside WTE power station or Haverton Hill incinerator) is a municipal waste incinerator and waste-to-energy power station, which provides 29.2 megawatts (MW) of electricity for the National Grid by burning 390,000 tonnes of household and commercial waste a year. It is located on the River Tees at Haverton Hill, east of Billingham in North East England. Developed and built by NEM, a subsidiary of Northumbrian Water, the initial plant replaced the Portrack Incinerator and opened in 1998. Subsequently, the facility became part of SITA, now Suez. The station is one of the most modern incinerators operating in England; it is noted for its innovative operation. In 2009, an extension was completed at the station, with the construction of an extra furnace line and a rail head. This increased the capacities of the plant from 19.2 MW and 250,000 tonnes of waste per year to its current levels. The plant initially received waste from Teesside and North Tyneside, but this was extended to include Northumberland with the 2009 extension. A second plant, the North East Energy Recovery Centre (NEERC), has been built on land adjacent to the first plant. This extends the site's catchment to include waste from south Tyne and Wear.

The Tees Valley is a combined authority area in North East England, around the lower River Tees. The area is not a geographical valley; the local term for the valley is Teesdale. The combined authority covers five council areas: Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees. The town of Middlesbrough is the largest population centre in the area. The borough of Middlesbrough is the smallest of the five, at only 53.88 square kilometres (20.80 sq mi) and a population of 143,734: the Stockton-on-Tees borough (including multiple towns) is the largest with an area of 204.9 square kilometres (79.1 sq mi) and a population of 197,030, as of 2021 From 1968 until 1974, parts of the area were included in the County Borough of Teesside council area. This was replaced by Cleveland county; it consisted of four districts which became unitary authorities after the county was abolished in 1996. The Darlington district in the Durham county council area became a unitary authority in 1997. A LEP of the same name was established in 2011 and became part of the 2016-created Tees Valley Combined Authority with the local council.

Teessaurus Park is a 10 acre urban grassland recreational area and sculpture park opened in 1979 in the Riverside Park light industrial estate, Middlesbrough, on the southern bank of the River Tees. It was built on a former slag heap in what was the Ironmasters district and represents, without any irony, the iron and steel industry that used to exist on the site and in the area. The park has its own small car park and has become something of a nature reserve. The route of the Teesdale Way passes through the park.

Billingham Biomass Power Station is a planned biomass power station, that is to be built on the River Tees at Billingham. It is to be built on the site of the former coal-fired North Tees Power Station. The station will have a generating capacity of 45 megawatts (MW).The station was granted planning permission in October 2009. The construction of the power station will cost £200 million, and is expected to be completed by 2012. The project was initiated by Gaia Power, who chose Aker Solutions to develop the project.As at October 2017 the old power station site remains undeveloped.

North Tees Power Station refers to a series of three coal-fired power stations on the River Tees at Billingham in County Durham. Overall, they operated from 1921 until 1983, and the C station, the last on the site, was demolished in 1987. Billingham Biomass Power Station is to be built on their site.

Cowpen Bewley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Billingham, in the Stockton-on-Tees district, in the ceremonial county of Durham, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 706.

The Old Town Hall is a municipal building in East Street in the Middlehaven area of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The structure, which has been vacant since 1996, is a Grade II listed building. The adjacent clock tower is separately listed.

Billingham is a town and civil parish in County Durham, England. The town is on the north side of the River Tees and is governed as part of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees unitary authority. It had a population of 35,165 in the 2011 Census. The settlement has been around since Anglo-Saxon times as a village, a post-Second World War modern town centre was built north of the old village centre on the town's grange. It was a township with an urban district from 1923 until 1968, when it was absorbed into the County Borough of Teesside, and part of the county of Cleveland.Billingham is home to the Billingham Manufacturing Plant which is a major producer of Chemicals for agriculture.

Port Clarence is a small village in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England. It is on the north bank of the River Tees, and near the northern end of the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge.

Belasis Lane railway station served the ICI Billingham Manufacturing Plant in the town of Billingham, County Durham, England from 1928 to 1964 on the Port Clarence branch of the former Clarence Railway which had become part of the London and North Eastern Railway by the time the station opened.

Middlehaven is the oldest part of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It is directly south of the River Tees and it is to the north of the current centre, separated by the railway and the A66. The area has had waves of regeneration since post-war devastation. The area currently includes from (west to east) a manufacturing and industrial sector, Boho Zone developments (residential and commerce), the Old Town Hall, the Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough College, docks and the Riverside Stadium. The term St Hilda's for the area relates to the former priory that was founded by Hilda of Whitby (the first mention of the town) and later also former church as named after the saint. The railway and the much later built A66 separating the area from the rest of the town created the term Over the Border for the area. The name Middlehaven is a back formation from Middlesbrough, combining "Middle" with "haven": the haven relates to Middlesbrough Dock.
