Billingham

St Michael's Catholic Academy (formerly St Michael's Roman Catholic School) is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school with academy status, located in Billingham, the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, England. The school converted to academy status on 2 September 2013 under the sponsorship of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Educational Trust. The Headteacher of the school is Clare Humble.Funded by the Government's Building Schools for the Future investment scheme, St. Michael's was to be relocated to a site adjacent to Billingham Campus School, in the second wave of funding from the programme. However, following the scrapping of the program in 2010, the relocation was cancelled. The new school building was opened in 2016, the old school buildings have since been demolished.

Billingham is a railway station on the Durham Coast Line, which runs between Newcastle and Middlesbrough via Hartlepool. The station, situated 10 miles 8 chains (16.3 km) north-west of Middlesbrough, serves the town of Billingham, Borough of Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

The Tees Valley is a combined authority area in North East England, around the lower River Tees. The area is not a geographical valley; the local term for the valley is Teesdale. The combined authority covers five council areas: Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees. The town of Middlesbrough is the largest population centre in the area. The borough of Middlesbrough is the smallest of the five, at only 53.88 square kilometres (20.80 sq mi) and a population of 143,734: the Stockton-on-Tees borough (including multiple towns) is the largest with an area of 204.9 square kilometres (79.1 sq mi) and a population of 197,030, as of 2021 From 1968 until 1974, parts of the area were included in the County Borough of Teesside council area. This was replaced by Cleveland county; it consisted of four districts which became unitary authorities after the county was abolished in 1996. The Darlington district in the Durham county council area became a unitary authority in 1997. A LEP of the same name was established in 2011 and became part of the 2016-created Tees Valley Combined Authority with the local council.

Bede Sixth Form College is a further education sixth-form college, based in Billingham, County Durham, England. The college provides A-Level, vocational courses, apprenticeship training, and higher education courses. It is a TASS accredited college, with a dedicated sports centre situated on its site. It was established in 1972, following a reorganisation of various schools on the Billingham Campus site. The college took its name from the famous Northumbrian scholar The Venerable Bede. It merged with Stockton Riverside College in May 2008. The college group now also includes Redcar and Cleveland College, NETA Training and The Skills Academy, it is known as the Education Training Collective (Etc.).

Wolviston is a village and civil parish within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 877. It is situated in the north of Billingham. The village has several businesses, including a florist, saddlery, international consultancy firm, riding school and post office. Wolviston benefits from two pubs, the Wellington Inn and the Ship. It has a traditional village green and a duck pond.

Cowpen Bewley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Billingham, in the Stockton-on-Tees district, in the ceremonial county of Durham, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 706.

Middlesbrough Football Club Women ( MID-əlz-brə) is an English women's football club. Founded in 1976, they currently play in the FA Women's National League Division One North, with home games played at Bishopton Road West, Stockton. Middlesbrough were founding members of the Northern Combination in 1998, and spent much of their early history in the third and fourth tiers of woman's football, aside from a brief spell in the second tier FA Women's Premier League Northern Division from 2002 to 2006. The club officially became affiliated with the men's team in 2023. Middlesbrough also have a reserve side competing in the FA Women's National League Reserve Northern Division. Their home games are played at Middlesbrough College.

Teesside Energy from Waste plant (also known as Teesside WTE power station or Haverton Hill incinerator) is a municipal waste incinerator and waste-to-energy power station, which provides 29.2 megawatts (MW) of electricity for the National Grid by burning 390,000 tonnes of household and commercial waste a year. It is located on the River Tees at Haverton Hill, east of Billingham in North East England. Developed and built by NEM, a subsidiary of Northumbrian Water, the initial plant replaced the Portrack Incinerator and opened in 1998. Subsequently, the facility became part of SITA, now Suez. The station is one of the most modern incinerators operating in England; it is noted for its innovative operation. In 2009, an extension was completed at the station, with the construction of an extra furnace line and a rail head. This increased the capacities of the plant from 19.2 MW and 250,000 tonnes of waste per year to its current levels. The plant initially received waste from Teesside and North Tyneside, but this was extended to include Northumberland with the 2009 extension. A second plant, the North East Energy Recovery Centre (NEERC), has been built on land adjacent to the first plant. This extends the site's catchment to include waste from south Tyne and Wear.
