Port Clarence

The Tees Transporter Bridge, also referred to as the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge or locally as The Transporter, is a bridge over the River Tees in northern England. The northern side is in Port Clarence (County Durham) and the southern side is in the Middlehaven (North Yorkshire), the latter an area of Middlesbrough. It is grade II* listed and the longest existing transporter in the world. and its winch house and piers are grade II listed.It is the furthest downstream bridge crossing over the river. It is classed as the A178 road, the road between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool. As of 2022 the bridge is not operational. When working, it carries a travelling 'car', or 'gondola', suspended below the fixed structure, across the river in 90 seconds. The gondola can carry 200 people, 9 cars, or 6 cars and one minibus.

Middlesbrough Priory was a priory in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1119 by Robert de Brus as a Benedictine house.On 1 January 1539, the priory was leased free-of-charge to four men. It has been suggested that this was to shield it from confiscation during the Dissolution of the Monasteries.No trace remains of the priory.

Middlehaven is the oldest part of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It is directly south of the River Tees and it is to the north of the current centre, separated by the railway and the A66. The area has had waves of regeneration since post-war devastation. The area currently includes from (west to east) a manufacturing and industrial sector, Boho Zone developments (residential and commerce), the Old Town Hall, the Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough College, docks and the Riverside Stadium. The term St Hilda's for the area relates to the former priory that was founded by Hilda of Whitby (the first mention of the town) and later also former church as named after the saint. The railway and the much later built A66 separating the area from the rest of the town created the term Over the Border for the area. The name Middlehaven is a back formation from Middlesbrough, combining "Middle" with "haven": the haven relates to Middlesbrough Dock.

The Old Town Hall is a municipal building in East Street in the Middlehaven area of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The structure, which has been vacant since 1996, is a Grade II listed building. The adjacent clock tower is separately listed.

Middlesbrough is a railway station on the Durham Coast Line, Esk Valley Line and Tees Valley Line. The station serves the town of Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by TransPennine Express. Direct destinations include Darlington, Saltburn, Sunderland, Newcastle, York, and Manchester Airport. There is a direct service to London Kings Cross once per weekday. According to the Office of Rail and Road statistics, Middlesbrough railway station is the fourth busiest in the North East region, with 1,210,906 total entries and exits (2021–22 period).

Bongo Club, also known as Club Bongo International, is a reggae club and one of the oldest nightclubs in Middlesbrough, England. The club is located on Bridge Street West near Middlesbrough Railway Station. It closed in June 2017 due to its licence being revoked after a man was attacked at the club. It had been due to re-open after a £400,000 refit in spring 2018.

The Esk Valley Line is a railway line located in the north of England, covering a total distance of around 30 miles (48 km), running from Middlesbrough to Whitby. The line follows the course of the River Esk for much of its eastern half. The Esk Valley Line was designated as a community rail line in July 2005, being one of seven intended pilots for the Department for Transport's Community Rail Development Strategy. Northern Trains call at all stations along the line with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway operating heritage services along part of the line between Grosmont and Whitby.

The Zetland is a hotel in the town centre of Middlesbrough, in England. The building was constructed in about 1860, as a hotel with a pub serving Middlesbrough railway station. It was extended to the rear in 1893 by J. M. Bottomley, and then in 1898 by W. Duncan. It is built of brick, with the front rendered to resemble stone. The building was renovated in 2018, and includes a brasserie and bar.The building was Grade II listed in 1988. It also appears on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Inside, the Victorian mosaic floor in the lobby survives, but the main interest is in the ground floor rear room, which retains its tiling in cream, brown and blue, large round-arched mirrors, and decorative plaster ceiling.

The Tees Valley Giants was intended as a £15 million series of five art installations by sculptor Anish Kapoor and structural designer Cecil Balmond. The artwork was planned to be created in the towns of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Stockton on Tees in the Tees Valley area of England. The project was launched in July 2008 by Tees Valley Regeneration. If completed, the project would become the world's biggest public art project.

Middlesbrough ( MID-əlz-brə) is a town in the Middlesbrough unitary authority borough of North Yorkshire, England. The town lies near the mouth of the River Tees and north of the North York Moors National Park. The built-up area had a population of 148,215 at the 2021 UK census. It is the largest town of the wider Teesside area, which had a population of 376,633 in 2011.Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farmland in the historic county of Yorkshire. The town was a planned development which started in 1830, based around a new port with coal and later ironworks added. Steel production and ship building began in the late 1800s, remaining associated with the town until the post-industrial decline of the late twentieth century. Trade (notably through ports) and digital enterprise sectors contemporarily contribute to the local economy, Teesside University and Middlesbrough College to local education. Middlesbrough was made a municipal borough in 1853. When elected county councils were created in 1889, Middlesbrough was considered large enough to provide its own county-level services and so it became a county borough, independent from North Riding County Council. The borough of Middlesbrough was abolished in 1968 when the area was absorbed into the larger County Borough of Teesside. Six years later in 1974 Middlesbrough was re-established as a borough within the new county of Cleveland. Cleveland was abolished in 1996, since when Middlesbrough has been a unitary authority within the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire.
