Castlemilk High School

Bogany Flats was a multi-storey block of flats in Castlemilk, Glasgow. The flats were built in 1966 by George Wimpey Ltd, the last of the nine tower blocks Whimpey built throughout the city in the sixties. The building was 20 stories high and contained 114 dwellings; locally it was known as 'The Hilton'. On 28 March 1993, 30 Bogany Terrace was demolished using 350 kg (770 lb) of explosives, in what was to become the third successfully controlled explosion in Glasgow. Despite being the most recently built high-rise tower block in Castlemilk it was the first to be demolished, after standing for only 27 years.

Castlemilk (Scottish Gaelic: Caisteal Mheilc) is a district of Glasgow, Scotland. It lies to the far south of the city centre, adjacent to the Croftfoot and Simshill residential areas within the city to the north-west, the town of Rutherglen - neighbourhoods of Spittal to the north-east and Fernhill to the east, Linn Park and its golf course to the west, and the separate village of Carmunnock further south across countryside. The area was developed by the Glasgow Corporation as a peripheral housing scheme in the 1950s to accommodate 34,000 people from inner-city slum areas such as the Gorbals. The new residents were provided with open spaces, a clean environment and indoor toilets and bathrooms. The modern development grew around Castlemilk House, a stately old mansion built around Cassilton Tower, which was started in 1460 on the site of a 13th-century castle, and was demolished in 1972.The population had dropped from 37,000 in 1971 to roughly half that number in 1991. However, despite the social problems associated with poverty and unemployment, the area has seen the benefits of a regeneration strategy implemented in the 1980s which has focused on improved housing and the development of local arts. Community groups and Cooperative housing associations have done a lot to regenerate the housing and improve the amenities for local people. A swimming pool, sports centre, shopping arcade and community centres have been developed.

Castlemilk House was a country house located in what is now the Castlemilk district of Glasgow, Scotland. The house was the ancestral home of the Stirling-Stuart family and was built around the 15th-century Cassiltoun Tower during the 18th and 19th centuries. The house and Castlemilk Estate were purchased by Glasgow Corporation in 1938, with the house serving as a children's home until it was closed in 1969 and demolished in 1972.

Croftfoot (Scots: Croaftfuit, Scottish Gaelic: Bun a' Chroit) is a residential area on the southeastern side of the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is bordered by Castlemilk to the south and King's Park (both the public park and the residential neighbourhood) to the west within Glasgow, and by the Rutherglen areas of Spittal to the east and Bankhead to the north (across the Cathcart Circle Lines railway). Historically within the civil parish of Cathcart in Renfrewshire, it is within the Linn ward of Glasgow City Council.

Carmunnock (Scottish Gaelic: Cathair Mhanach) is a conservation village within the City of Glasgow boundary, lying within three miles (five kilometres) of East Kilbride and Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire and Busby in East Renfrewshire. The nearest other district within Glasgow is Castlemilk. This ancient settlement which is associated with the early Christian missionary Saint Cadoc, has a medieval street plan set within the lands of an estate held by variously the Morays of Bothwell, the Earls of Douglas and eventually to the Lords, Marquesses and Dukes of Hamilton until 1700 when it passed to the Stuarts of Castlemilk. The village is a popular residential area. The village has its own primary school (Carmunnock Primary School) with around 178 pupils. There is also a newsagent/village shop. The village hosts its own Highland Games.

Croftfoot railway station is a railway station in South Lanarkshire that lies close to the City of Glasgow / South Lanarkshire boundary serving the Croftfoot area of the City of Glasgow and the Spittal and Bankhead areas of the town of Rutherglen, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Newton branch of the Cathcart Circle Line.

Mid Lanarkshire was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster) from 1885 to 1918. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post voting system.

King's Park Secondary School, on Fetlar Drive, in the King's Park area (or specifically in the Simshill area) of south Glasgow, is a Scottish non-denominational state school. It was established in 1962.

King's Park (Scottish Gaelic: Pàirc an Rìgh, Scots: Keeng's Pairk) is a district in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated south of the River Clyde and borders the Glasgow areas of Croftfoot, Cathcart, Simshill, Mount Florida and Toryglen and the neighbourhood of Bankhead in the adjoining town of Rutherglen.

Simshill is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is on the South Side of the city, approximately 3.7 miles (6.0 km) south of the city centre. Adjacent areas are Cathcart, King's Park, Croftfoot and Castlemilk. Linn Park is to the south-west of Simshill. The area had a high concentration of residents of Irish heritage in the postwar period, as members of the city's Irish community moved out to the suburbs from the inner city Gorbals.Kings Park Secondary School is in the immediate area. Two other primary schools are close by: St Fillan's and St Mirin's. Former residents of Simshill include Sir Alex Ferguson and Carol Smillie. and Alistair Albert Gray.

Fernhill is a residential neighbourhood in the Scottish town of Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire; it is situated south of the River Clyde and borders the Rutherglen neighbourhoods of High Burnside to the north and Cathkin to the east, the Glasgow district of Castlemilk to the west, and the open lands of Fernbrae Meadows (formerly Blairbeth Golf Club which closed in 2015) to the south. Its location on a steep incline which is part of the Cathkin Braes range of hills offers panoramic views over the south and eastern parts of Greater Glasgow. Fernhill is within the Rutherglen South ward of South Lanarkshire Council which is also the extent of the neighbourhood community policing zone; local councillors include the experienced politician Robert Brown.
