Cranberry Specialty Hospital was a tuberculosis sanatorium and later a chronic care facility in Hanson, Massachusetts operated by Plymouth County, Massachusetts, which was operational from 1919 until 1992. The hospital was dedicated on May 31, 1919 as Plymouth County Hospital. It was known for its architecture and its modern treatment of tuberculosis-stricken children. The hospital was one of the first to feature a modern, state-of-the-art heating system. An annex was built by 1922 that included additional rooms and wards for patients, as well as an auditorium for patients and employees to enjoy. The hospital was also equipped with a large kitchen, a two-slab morgue, and a laboratory. In 1965, under the direction of superintendent C. Clark Streeter, the hospital transitioned from a tuberculosis sanatorium to a chronic care facility. The hospital complex was renamed the Cranberry Specialty Hospital of Plymouth County in c.1984. During the late 1980s, the hospital struggled with finances, lack of admission, and inadequate treatment. The cost of maintaining the aging historic campus proved too high, and in 1992 the hospital was shut down and relocated to Middleborough, MA, where the new location would shut itself down before 2000.Though most of the campus has remained closed since 1992, the Annex has been used by the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Plymouth County Beekeepers Association, the University of Massachusetts, 4-H, and is also currently home to the Hanson Food Pantry. The remainder of the property has fallen into a state of disrepair and is condemned. Plans to renovate the large hospital building fell apart after a string of devastating arson fires in the early to mid-2000s that destroyed entire wards, as well as the auditorium, kitchen, and nurses' living area. Retrieved 2017-02-03.Following another large fire in 2016, the Town of Hanson appropriated the funds to demolish the large number of abandoned buildings on the grounds. Partial demolition occurred in October 2016 when the far two right wings of the hospital were demolished. Further demolition of the remainder of the hospital building has started as of January 2017. On March 28, 2017, the physical demolition of the historic hospital building began. As of March 29, 2017, all of the remaining buildings have been entirely demolished. The hospital was known for its Mediterranean Revival/Italianate architecture, a rarity in rural Massachusetts.

The District 7 School is a historic one-room schoolhouse at 565 Main Street in Hanson, Massachusetts. The single-story wood-frame structure was built in 1845, and is the town's oldest surviving schoolhouse. It has two entry doors to anterooms which lead to the main schoolroom. The building was enlarged, apparently in 1882, when it was also moved across the street from its original location. It was moved again in 1939, to a position adjacent to the Thomas Elementary School, where it was used as a "portable" classroom. Finally, in 1963 it was moved to its present location, and has served since as a museum and meeting space operated by the local historical society.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area (or BPWMA) is located in the towns of Hanson and Halifax in Massachusetts, USA. The area is composed of 1,625 acres (6.58 km2) of open land for public use, including hiking, biking, and birding. Hunting is permitted except on Sundays. BPWMA is made up mainly of swampy lands, old cranberry bogs (formally Bog 18, the biggest in the world), and cedar forest. It is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife.

Wampatuck Pond is a 64-acre (260,000 m2) pond in Hanson, Massachusetts. Indian Head Brook both flows in and out of the pond. Along the northern shore of the pond are the Routes 14 and 58 concurrency, Hanson's Town Hall, and a small park. Kings Landing way is adjacent from fern hill cemetery opposite the pond. Native American burial site sits next to a man made pond on 34 and 54 kings landing way plots. Cranberry bogs on Main Street abut the town forest and southern side river ways to the pond.Access to the pond includes a concrete ramp behind the Hanson town hall managed by the Town of Hanson suitable for three trailers and six cars. The water quality is toxic and impaired due to noxious aquatic plants.

Hanson is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. Part of Greater Boston, Hanson is located 20 miles (32 km) south of Boston and is one of the inland towns of the South Shore. The population was 10,639 at the 2020 census.

Indian Head Pond is a 121-acre (0.49 km2) pond in Hanson, Massachusetts. The pond is a tributary to Furnace Pond, a public water supply, and is the headwaters to Indian Head Brook.

Maquan Pond is a 48-acre (190,000 m2) pond in Hanson, Massachusetts. Its average depth is 12 feet (3.7 m) and its maximum depth is 18 feet (5.5 m). The pond is spring fed with an overflow on the south end that feeds into Indian Head Pond. There has been much development along the shore. The town has a right-of-way on the northern shore of the pond off Maquan Street (Route 14). The town beach Cranberry Cove is at south end of the pond. The water is acidic, so fishing is poor except for pickerel, small yellow perch and pumpkinseeds. Camp Kiwanee, a former Camp Fire camp, is located on the southeastern shore of the pond. The town now owns the camp and rents camping and cabins as well as Needles Lodge for functions. The Rainbow Girls own land on the southwest shore and previously operated a summer camp there.

Whitman-Hanson Regional High School is a public high school located in Hanson, Massachusetts, United States. The school serves students in grades 9-12 from the towns of Whitman, Massachusetts and Hanson, Massachusetts. It is part of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District. The schools colors are Black & Red and the mascot is the Panther. Until 1960, the school was called Whitman High School and was then located in an older building across from the Whitman Town Park and the Colebrook Cemetery in Whitman, MA. Both Whitman and Hanson students used the school, although at an even earlier time, the school had also housed students from other towns including Halifax, MA. The old Whitman High School had become so crowded that by the 1959-1960 academic year, classes were attended in split day schedules with the Freshman class attending in the afternoon. The new building was called Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and was open for classes and occupied in September 1960. It was located on Franklin Street at the town line of Whitman and Hanson, at a site in front of the current Whitman-Hanson Regional High School (which is now hidden from sight from Franklin Street).

Camp Kiwanee is a summer camp and function facility at 1 Camp Kiwanee Road in Hanson, Massachusetts. The core of the property is a summer estate called "The Needles" which was built by industrialist Albert Cameron Burrage between 1899 and 1905. This property was purchased by the Boston chapter of the Camp Fire Girls, and adapted for use as a girls' summer camp. From the 1930s to the 1950s a series of recreational facilities was constructed, and the camp was enlarged by the purchase of adjacent properties. The Town of Hanson purchased the camp from the Camp Fire Girls in 1979, and continues to operate it as a campground and function facility.The camp was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Hanson is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hanson in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 2,118 at the 2010 census.

Poor Meadow Brook is a 5.8-mile-long (9.3 km) stream within the Taunton River Watershed in southeastern Massachusetts. The stream runs from a wetland near County Street (the eastern crossing of Route 14) in Hanson to the confluence with the Satucket River in East Bridgewater.

Robbins Pond is a 124-acre (0.50 km2) warm water pond in East Bridgewater and Halifax, Massachusetts. It is part of the Taunton River Watershed. The inflow is Poor Meadow Brook, and the outflow is the Satucket River.The water is brown in color with a transparency of five feet, and the bottom is a mixture of sand and gravel. Average depth is four feet and maximum depth is just ten feet. There are 1.7 miles (2.7 km) of shoreline. The pond is located off Pond Street in East Bridgewater, one mile (1.6 km) from Route 106. Access is an informal gravel launch area near the pond's outlet. It is suitable only for car top boats and canoes.
