Werneth School

Harrytown Hall is a former manor house in Bredbury, Stockport, England. The first hall was built in the 15th century by Harry Bruckshaw. In 1671, it was demolished and rebuilt by John Bruckshaw. John's initials were carved along with his wife's, Sarah, over the front door along with the year. The hall was built in a Gothic style, and it remains well-preserved.For many years the Bruckshaw's owned the estate, and later the Fosters and the Waltons, but in 1913 the hall became a convent school. In 1978, the school moved to new premises and became Harrytown Catholic High School. The building is now flats.

Harrytown Catholic High School is a voluntary aided Catholic secondary school, situated in Romiley near Stockport, England. Designated as a Specialist Science College. Originally a convent school based at Harrytown Hall, it became a co-educational Catholic secondary school in 1978 and moved to new accommodation. The buildings have been modernised since and today Harrytown serves a wide catchment area, for seven feeder Catholic primary schools in the east of Stockport. The school has a house system, where houses compete with each other. Originally, the school had four houses named after the English Martyrs – Fisher, Campion, Moore and Beckett. This has now extended to six houses named after Saints linked to the school. The school is one of three Roman Catholic high schools in Stockport, and one of two within the Diocese of Shrewsbury in Stockport

Bredbury is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, 8 miles (12.9 km) south-east of Manchester, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Stockport and 3 miles (4.8 km) south-west of Hyde. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 16,721.It is on the lower southern slopes of Werneth Low, an outlier of the Peak District between the valleys of the River Tame and River Goyt, head-waters of the River Mersey.

Elder Mill, Romiley was a cotton spinning mill in Romiley, Stockport, Greater Manchester. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964.

The Works Recording Studio was a recording studio located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK between 1998 and 2007. Built in a Victorian rectory it was originally an analogue studio used by unsigned bands and fading stars of Manchester's rich musical scene including ex-members of The Smiths and The Stone Roses. In 2001 it installed a Pro Tools system, and then recorded albums for bands such as Amplifier, Oceansize, Inertia Blooms and Performance. In 2005 there was a bizarre 3 a.m. appearance by U.S. rap star Snoop Dogg who visited the studio after playing a concert, bringing an entourage of musicians, enormous bodyguards and a chef. The studio also branched out into making music videos. In 2007 "Super Producer" Timbaland used the studio whilst on tour with Justin Timberlake.

Stockport was a rural district in the administrative county of Cheshire from 1894 to 1904. The district was the successor to the Stockport Rural Sanitary District formed in 1875. The rural district was originally composed of eight civil parishes (with population in 1891): Bosden (2,342) Bramhall (3,365) Brinnington (7,061) Handforth (794) Norbury (1,495) Offerton (372) Torkington (294) Werneth, renamed Compstall 1897 (2,587)In 1900 Hazel Grove and Bramhall Urban District was formed from five of the parishes in the rural district (Bosden, Bramhall, Norbury, Offerton, and Torkington). In 1902 Compstall was constituted an urban district, and Brinnington became part of Bredbury and Romiley Urban District. The remaining parish in the district, Handforth, became an urban district in 1904.

Bredbury railway station serves the town of Bredbury in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It was built by the Sheffield and Midland Railway Companies' Committee in 1875, on the line between New Mills Central and Manchester London Road (since renamed Piccadilly). The station was modernised in 1976; the buildings on the eastbound side were replaced and the platforms were raised, with the result that the old waiting room on the Manchester side is three steps lower down. The original stationmaster's house survives, as does the 1916 footbridge.

Bredbury and Romiley was an urban district in the administrative county of Cheshire, England from 1894 to 1974, which covered the civil parishes of Bredbury, Compstall and Romiley. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 from Bredbury and Romiley urban sanitary district. On the abolition of the administrative counties and the urban districts by the Local Government Act 1972 its area was included in the metropolitan borough of Stockport in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester. The socialist activist Christopher Thomas Douthwaite was a member of Bredbury and Romiley Urban District Council from 1911 to 1947.

Chadkirk is an area in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England. It is located between the River Goyt and the Peak Forest Canal south of Romiley, east of the A627 road. The site of a former print works on the right bank of the River Goyt is now occupied by Chadkirk Business Park. Chadkirk Country Estate has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR). Within it, the ancient woodlands of Kirk Wood and Little Wood have been declared Sites of Biological Importance (SBI).

Chadkirk Chapel is a restored historic chapel near Romiley in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II* listed building.

Offerton School was a state comprehensive secondary school located north of the A626 road near the River Goyt in Offerton, a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester. The school catered for pupils aged 11 to 16 and was maintained by the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Due to a forced closure issued by the government, the school ceased to function in 2012. The school was originally known as Offerton Secondary School for Girls, Curzon Road, which was the first school to be built on the 50 acre campus in 1955, built by Stockport Corporation. it has 600 Girls. The second school to be built in 1960 was Goyt Bank Technical High School for Girls. It was a two-form entry grammar technical school, with girls moving there from the former Greek Street High School for Girls in Stockport. The third and final school to be built on the campus in 1964 was Stockport Technical High School for Boys. Stockport Technical High School (a boys' technical school) moved from Pendlebury Hall on Lancashire Hill to The Fairway at Offerton. It had 400 boys. It became Goyt Bank School in September 1972 when Offerton Secondary School for Girls, Goyt Bank High School for Girls and Stockport Technical High School for Boys merged on the Offerton Campus. It had 1500 Girls and Boys. In 1983 Goyt Bank merged with Dialstone Lane, and was renamed Offerton High School. Later it became Offerton School. Today, part of the former school site now houses Castle Hill High School, a special school that was relocated from Brinnington.
