Gmina Boronów

Boronów [bɔˈrɔnuf] is a village in Lubliniec County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It is (since 1993) the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Boronów. It lies approximately 16 kilometres (10 mi) east of Lubliniec and 47 km (29 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. The village lies on the Liswarta river. Between 1975 and 1998 it was in the former Częstochowa Voivodeship. The name Boronów originates from the coniferous forests (pl bory) in the area or from the surname Boronowski, who was one of owners of this village. In old chronicles the names Borunow and Bornów are found. But on the herb of Boronów there is a harrow, because it was a sign on the old village's stamp.

It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) east of Boronów, 19 km (12 mi) east of Lubliniec, and 49 km (30 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice.

Transmitter Koszęcin is a facility for mediumwave and FM broadcasting near Koszecin, Poland (Geographical Coordinates: 50°39'14"N 18°51'25"E ). It was opened in 1977. It has two guyed masts: the first one is 110 metres high, is grounded, and carries antennas for FM broadcasting (Radio Maryja on 107.0 MHz ERP, 5.00 kW, polarization V); the second is 138m high. That second mast is insulated from ground and used for mediumwave transmission; broadcasting of the Radio Pahonia in Belarusian is planned on 1080 kHz with ERP 350 kW using this mast. The signal will cover the whole of Europe including the Ural Mountains. Earlier, the AM Mast was used for Polish Radio and used two Tesla transmitters 750 kW each in parallel. With the transmitted power of 1500 kW it was one of the most powerful mediumwave transmitters in the world.
