Norbury is in Greater Manchester, England. A civil parish in Cheshire from 1866 to 1900, it now forms part of Hazel Grove in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Norbury was one of the eight civil parishes of Cheshire to be included in the Stockport rural sanitary district in 1875. From 1894 it formed part of the Stockport Rural District. In 1900 the parish was abolished and it became part of the Hazel Grove and Bramhall civil parish and urban district. Hazel Grove and Bramhall was abolished in 1974 and Norbury has since formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester.

Disley Tunnel was built by the Midland Railway in 1902 on its line between New Mills South Junction and Manchester Central, which was more direct than the congested and difficult lines through Stockport Tiviot Dale. It was the most expensive work on the line and at 2 miles, 346 yards (3,535 m), the second-longest tunnel on the Midland system. By means of a connection on to the old LNWR line from Buxton at Hazel Grove that was opened in 1986, it is now part of the Hope Valley Line into the present-day Stockport railway station. There is also a short (174 yard) Disley Tunnel nearby on the Buxton Line.

High Lane railway station was a railway station serving the village of High Lane in Greater Manchester, England. It was opened in 1869 by the Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway (MB&M) - a joint line constructed and operated by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (MS&L) and North Staffordshire Railways (NSR). Like the other stations on the MB&M, the station buildings and signalling were provided by the NSR and train services by the MS&L.The station closed in January 1970, along with the entirety of the MB&M. The track was lifted and the trackbed now forms part of the Middlewood Way, a recreational path between Macclesfield and Marple.

Old Manor Farm is a 15th-century hall in Marple, Stockport, historically in Cheshire, now within Greater Manchester, England (grid reference SJ945885). Built in the 15th century, it has had additions made in the 16th, 17th and 20th centuries. Called "one of the finest existing examples of a small medieval manor house in Lancashire or Cheshire", it is a Grade II* listed building.Marple has five nationally important buildings, listed by English Heritage as either Grade I or Grade II. One of these is Old Manor Farm, tucked away above the Marple Brook which runs in the valley near Dan Bank. Described by Pevsner as "a small medieval manor house, the central part timber-framed, probably 15th century, with a two-bay hall of cruck construction. Later wings were added, the service wing of stone, the other half-timber." Its importance was recognised in 1951 when it was featured in Cheshire Life magazine as one of the "Homes of Cheshire".
