Hitcham, Suffolk

Bildeston is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. Located around 5 miles (8 km) north of Hadleigh, in 2005 it had a population of 960, increasing to 1,054 at the 2011 Census.

The Clock Tower is a clock tower in the market place, in the centre of Bildeston, Suffolk, England. It was erected in 1864. In 2010 it became Grade II listed.

Cosford was a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 30,712 acres (124.29 km2).The hundred consisted of Hadleigh, the only town of any size, and seventeen other parishes in western Suffolk. The area is undulating and agriculturally-fertile with clay soil, watered by the River Brett and its tributary streams. It is about twelve miles (19 km) in length from north to south and around five wide, and is bounded by the Hundreds of Samford, Babergh, Thedwestry, Stow and Bosmere and Claydon. Cosford was in Coxford Union in the Liberty of St Edmund and in the Deanery and Archdeaconry of Sudbury. The area was until the nineteenth century part of the diocese of Norwich until it was moved to that of Ely. Hadleigh itself however is a peculiar of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Listed as Cursforde in the Domesday Book and subsequently known for a period as Corsford or Corsforth, the name Cosford means "ford of the river Cors or Corsa".

Chelsworth is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. It lies on the B1115 road, 10 miles in either direction from Sudbury and Stowmarket. It is part of Babergh district. The parish also contains the hamlet of Chelsworth Common. Built on the north bank of the River Brett, the entire village is classified as a conservation area, and contains numerous listed buildings. The Saxons called the area Ceorleswyrthe. Recorded in Domesday as "Cerleswrda". Also be listed historically as Cheilesworth.

Kettlebaston is a village and a civil parish with just over 30 inhabitants in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England, located around 3 miles (5 km) east of Lavenham. From the 2011 Census the population of the village was not maintained and is included in the civil parish of Chelsworth. It derives its name from Kitelbeornastuna, (Kitelbjorn's farmstead - O.Scand. pers. name + O.E. Tun), later evolving to Kettlebarston, (which is how the name is still pronounced), and finally to the current spelling. Its existence was first recorded in 1086 in the Domesday Book.

Nedging is a village and former civil parish on the B1115 road, now in the parish of Nedging-with-Naughton, in the Babergh district, in the county of Suffolk, England. The nearest town is Hadleigh, there is also the hamlet of Nedging Tye nearby. In 1931 the civil parish had a population of 155. On 1 April 1935 it was merged with Naughton to create Nedging-with-Naughton.The parish church of St Mary is a Grade I listed medieval church.

Brettenham is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. In 2005 it had a population of 270, increasing to 353 at the 2011 Census, and reduced to 320 in the 2021 census. Almost the entire built-up area is defined as a conservation area, and the parish also contains some ancient woodland at Ram's Wood. The village is home to independent prep school, Old Buckenham Hall.

Semer is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located adjacent to a bridge over the River Brett on the B1115 between Hadleigh and Stowmarket, it is part of Babergh district. The parish also contains the hamlets of Ash Street and Drakestone Green. The parish was recorded in the 2011 census as having a population of 130, down from 158 in the previous census.

Centre Academy East Anglia, formerly known as The Old Rectory School is a private special school in Brettenham, Suffolk, England, founded in 1981. The school offers an educational opportunity for children with dyslexia, developmental coordination disorder, AD/HD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and related SpLD (specific learning difficulties). It is well known by the conservative party for its specialist, whole school approach and attempts, which are often met with success, to return pupils to mainstream education. Boarding places were also available, however as of September 5, 2022, these places are no longer available The school's curriculum is designed for children with specific learning difficulties aged 8–19. Pupils have access to a broad and balanced National Curriculum. Classes are small and set by ability, not year group. Classers are taught in groups of 10 or less.

Old Buckenham Hall School (commonly known as OBH) is a day and boarding preparatory school with pre-prep for boys and girls in the village of Brettenham, Suffolk, England.Founded in 1862, the school has been on its current site since 1956, and currently accommodates about 125 boys and 125 girls between the ages of 2 and 13 years.The school is located in Brettenham Park, a grade II* listed building in about 80 acres (320,000 m2) of parkland in the Suffolk village of Brettenham. Its pupils take the Common Entrance exam, going on to a range of public schools such as Uppingham, Oundle, Harrow, Rugby, Framlingham and The Leys.
