Lake Sonoma

Asti is an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, California, United States. It is located near U.S. Route 101 in the Alexander Valley between Cloverdale, Geyserville and Healdsburg, and was named after the city in northern Italy (toponym in Italian instead of Piedmontese)In 1881, Andrea Sbarboro established two communities, Asti and Chianti, as part of his Italian Swiss Agricultural Colony. A plaque at the southeast corner of Asti Road and Asti Post Office Road commemorates the colony, whose wines won ten gold medals in international competition. The colony is California Historical Landmark #621.Located in the Alexander Valley AVA, Asti is the home of Asti Winery. By the mid-1950s, it had become the second-most-visited destination in California, after Disneyland.Asti had a post office which closed in 1978. It used the ZIP Code 95413. It is mostly used for general aviation. Other activities at the airport include skydiving, ultralight and experimental activities. It is home to Quality Sport Planes, the western representative for Zenith Aircraft Company since 2005.

Rancho Rincon de Musalacon was a 8,867-acre (35.88 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Sonoma County, California given in 1846 by Governor Pío Pico to Francisco Berreyesa. The grant extended along both sides of the Russian River and encompassed present-day Cloverdale and Asti.

The North Coast AVA is an American Viticultural Area in the state of California that encompasses grape-growing regions in six counties located north of San Francisco: Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano. This large appellation covers over 3,000,000 acres (5,000 sq mi) and includes a number of smaller sub-appellations that all share the common ecology trait of weather affected by the fog and breezes off the Pacific Ocean.

The California Coast Ranges Biosphere Reserve (established 1983) was a UNESCO Biosphere reserve located along the California Coast Ranges of northern California and the San Francisco Bay area until June 2017. This biosphere reserve includes a highly diverse complex of evergreen sclerophyllous woodland, coastal, estuary and marine ecosystems.
