Gmina Olkusz

Krzykawka [kʂɨˈkafka] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bolesław, within Olkusz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland.During the January Uprising, on 5 May 1863, the Battle of Krzykawka was fought near the village between Polish insurgents supported by Italian and French volunteers and Russian troops. Italian commander Francesco Nullo, hero of Italian and Polish independence fights, died in the battle, and there is a monument dedicated to him in the village.

Olkusz County (Polish: powiat olkuski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Olkusz, which lies 37 kilometres (23 mi) north-west of the regional capital Kraków. The county also contains the towns of Bukowno, lying 8 km (5 mi) west of Olkusz, and Wolbrom, 20 km (12 mi) north-east of Olkusz. The county covers an area of 622.19 square kilometres (240.2 sq mi). As of 2008 its total population is 113,910, out of which the population of Olkusz is 37,552, that of Bukowno is 10,695, that of Wolbrom is 9,075, and the rural population is 56,964.

Olkusz [ˈɔlkuʂ] (Yiddish: עלקיש Elkish, German: 1941-45 Ilkenau) is a town in southern Poland with 36,607 inhabitants (2014). Situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in Katowice Voivodeship (1975–1998), it is the capital of Olkusz County. Olkusz is known for its abundance of silver, which is mined and extracted in the vicinity.

Rabsztyn Castle is a preserved Gothic ruined castle located in the Polish Jura within the Eagles' Nests Trail, in the village of Rabsztyn, Lesser Poland Voivodeship in southern Poland.The etymology of Rabsztyn Castle derives from the German Rabenstein, translating to Raven's Rock.Having undergone extensive reconstruction, since May 2015, the castle has been opened to tourists.

Its seat is the village of Klucze, which lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) north of Olkusz and 41 km (25 mi) north-west of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of 119.3 square kilometres (46.1 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 14,895.

It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) north-east of Olkusz and 36 km (22 mi) north-west of the regional capital Kraków.It is home to Rabsztyn Castle.
