Glanate was a Gallo-Roman town on the right bank of the Var, which became the episcopal see of Glandève.

The Tinée (French pronunciation: [tine]; Occitan: Tiniá) is a river that flows through the Alpes-Maritimes department of southeastern France. It is 69.9 km (43.4 mi) long. Its drainage basin is 743 km2 (287 sq mi). Its source is on the east side of the Col de la Bonette, in the Maritime Alps. It flows through Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, Isola and Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, and it flows into the Var near Utelle. The Guercha and the Vionène are its tributaries.

La Roquette-sur-Var (French pronunciation: [la ʁɔkɛt syʁ vaʁ], literally La Roquette on Var; Occitan: Sa Roqueta de Var; Italian: Rocchetta di Varo) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. It is one of sixteen villages grouped together by the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur tourist department as the Route des Villages Perchés (Route of Perched Villages). The others are: Aspremont, Carros, Castagniers, Coaraze, Colomars, Duranus, Èze, Falicon, La Gaude, Lantosque, Levens, Saint-Blaise, Saint-Jeannet, Tourrette-Levens and Utelle.

La Tour (French pronunciation: [la tuʁ]; Occitan: La Tor; Italian: La Torre) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France.

Castagniers Abbey (French: Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Paix de Castagniers) is a Cistercian nunnery, in Castagniers, 12 km from Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes departement in southwestern France. In 1865, Dom Marie-Bernard Barnouin, restorer of Sénanque Abbey, founded a Cistercian community for women in Mane in the diocese of Digne, and in 1869, another in Reillanne, the Abbaye de Notre-Dame des Prés. In 1872 the two communities were united in Reillanne. In 1930 the community left Reillanne to settle in Castagniers. The community was elevated to the rank of an abbey in 1962. The first abbess, Mother Marguerite de la Trinité, saw to it that the place became a chocolate factory, which is still working today. The nuns have a guest house and they welcome guests wishing to make a retreat.
