Runton

West Runton railway station is on the Bittern Line in Norfolk, England, serving the village of West Runton. It is 28 miles 55 chains (46.2 km) down the line from Norwich and is situated between Cromer and Sheringham, the northern terminus. Train services are operated by Greater Anglia. It is one of two remaining Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway stations still in use on the National Rail network (Cromer being the other). Sheringham and Weybourne are the other two surviving M&GNJR stations, both still served today on the heritage North Norfolk Railway. Like other stations on the Norwich - Sheringham line, West Runton is cared for by volunteers known as station adopters.

West Runton Cliffs is a 17.8-hectare (44-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Sheringham in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site is important because it exposes a succession of warm and cold stages in the middle Pleistocene between about 2 million and 400,000 years ago, including the notably fossiliferous Cromer Forest Bed. It shows a succession of advances and retreats of the sea, and it is the stratotype for the Cromerian Stage.The beach is open to the public.

The West Runton Mammoth is a fossilized skeleton of a steppe mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii) found in the cliffs of West Runton in the county of Norfolk, England in 1990. The find is the largest nearly complete mammoth skeleton known, and is the oldest found in the United Kingdom.

Beacon Hill is the highest point in the English county of Norfolk. The hill is located 0.75 miles (1.2 km) south of the village of West Runton on the North Norfolk coast. At its summit the hill is 105 metres (344 ft) above sea level. The hill is also known as Roman Camp. The summit and surrounding woodlands are now in the care of the National Trust. A track, named Calves Well Lane, running west from Sandy Lane leads to a car park which is maintained by donations made to the National Trust collection box provide on the edge of the car park. Litter bins and benches make Beacon Hill an ideal location for picnics. There are several footpaths to follow across the area.

East Runton is a small village in Norfolk, England situated close to the North Sea. It was once a traditional fishing village outside Cromer but is now a popular holiday destination for camping and caravan holidays. The village is within the parish of Runton that also includes West Runton. The village is 1.3 miles (2.1 km) west of Cromer, 1.7 miles (2.7 km) east of West Runton, 2.7 miles (4.3 km) east of Sheringham and 21.7 miles (34.9 km) north of Norwich. The village lies on the A149 coast road but most of the dwellings can be found just south of the road, nestled around the two village greens. The population in the 2001 census was shown as 1,633 (includes West Runton) in 784 households. At the 2011 census the population was included in the civil parish of Runton. The parish area is 544 hectares. The war dead of East Runton are recorded on the West Runton War Memorial. The villages name means either, Runa's farm/settlement' or 'Runi's farm/settlement'.

Beeston Hall School is an independent day and boarding preparatory school for boys and girls in the village of Beeston Regis, Norfolk, England. Founded in 1948, Beeston Hall currently accommodates 125 pupils aged 4 – 13 making it the largest boarding preparatory school in East Anglia.

It is a Geological Conservation Review site.The foreshore exposes Lower Pleistocene sediments, including large blocks of glacitectonic (transported by ice) chalk. There are many fossils, including extinct horses, rhinoceroses, and elephants.The site is open to the public.

Felbrigg Woods is a 164.6-hectare (407-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of Cromer in Norfolk. It is the main part of the grounds of Felbrigg Hall, a National Trust property which is listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and it is in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Ancient trees in this wood have more than fifty species of lichen, including several which are rare in East Anglia. Many of them are indicators of ancient undisturbed woodland. The trees are mainly beech which have been pollarded many years ago, and have massive stools and boles.

Aylmerton is a village in the county of Norfolk, England. It is in the area of North Norfolk and lies 2.2 miles (3.5 km) south of the North Sea, 3.2 miles (5.1 km) south-west of Cromer and 7.5 miles (12.1 km) east of Holt. The parish is bordered by the parishes of Beeston Regis and Runton to the north, West Beckham to the west, Felbrigg to the east and Gresham and Sustead to the south. The centre of the village is ¾ miles south of the A148 King’s Lynn to Cromer road with Sandy Lane and Beechwood Avenue north of it. The nearest railway stations are West Runton at the bottom of Sandy Lane, Cromer at 2.9 miles (4.7 km) and Roughton Road at 4.1 miles (6.6 km). The civil parish has an area of 6.86 square kilometres and in the 2001 census the population was 435 in 178 households, increasing to 458 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish is in North Norfolk, whose headquarters are in Cromer.

Beeston Cliffs is a 10.3-hectare (25-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Sheringham in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This is the type site for the Beestonian stage of the Early Pleistocene, between around 1.8 and 0.8 million years ago. It has both marine and freshwater deposits. There is a nationally rare plant, purple broomrape, in calcareous grassland on the clifftop.There is public access to the site.
